The MAC Company Dancers.
New Name for MAC’s Elite Dance Group
AC Company Dancers is the new name for MAC’s auditioned group of dancers who receive pre-professional level training and represent the club at regional and national dance competitions. The name was changed from MAC Elite Dancers to MAC Company Dancers to reflect the MAC dance program’s vision of having a working dance company, designed for serious dancers to train as versatile artists through a variety of performance and growth opportunities. The name change also eliminates confusion with other area dance studios that have similar “elite” names.

Dance Supervisor Laura Haney, together with her talented choreogra- phers and instructors, are casting MAC Company Dancers to prepare at least seven different challenging dances in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary and hip hop genres. The MAC Company dancers are required to take at least six dance classes per week, including at least two or three ballet classes, and instruction in the various dance genres in which they perform. The MAC Company Dancers’ perfor- mance season begins in Jan. 2012, and includes the challenging regional New York City Dance Alliance Convention in Portland, and the West Coast Dance Explosion Convention in Seattle. Many MAC Company Dancers also prepare self-choreographed dances for the annual Young Choreographers Competition, hosted by MAC each spring. The season wraps up with the MAC Dance Recital at the Newmark Theatre on June 12, followed by the West Coast Dance Explosion National Competition and Convention held in Las Vegas. WM
