Children welcome Maycombe is a 200 year old detached, character cottage on the outskirts of Beeson, a small village surrounded by farmland and only half a mile from Beesands by the sea at Start Bay. There is a lovely, enclosed garden, mainly lawn but with mature shrubs giving lots of colour – it is safe for children or dogs and is home to a large variety of birds. There are fields on two sides where you will see sheep and their lambs in the Spring.
Accommodation: Entrance is into the conservatory at the rear of the house which faces south and is a sun trap even in November. The newly installed country kitchen/dining room with part exposed beams now has off
white units with integrated electric oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and freezer, microwave. An archway leads to the sitting room with large stone fireplace, part beamed ceiling, window seat, colour TV, DVD and video, CD and radio, views of the garden and door to conservatory. Cloakroom with WC & handbasin. Upstairs is a double (5’ bed) room with handbasin and two twin rooms (3’ beds). Bathroom – bath with shower over, WC and handbasin. Beneath the house, reached from the garden, is a large cellar, dry and safe for storage or play area. Adjacent to the cellar is a stone flagged patio – great for barbecues.
Children welcome Dumela is a detached bungalow situated in the village of Chillington, close to a selection of beaches around Start Bay and the Salcombe Estuary. You will be spoilt for choice with a variety of creekside and country inns all serving good local produce and fresh sea food. The market town of Kingsbridge is 5 miles away and has an excellent selection of individual shops and restaurants and boat trips on the estuary down to the picturesque yachting haven at Salcombe. Chillington has a well stocked village shop, butchers and a pub. Dumela is particularly suitable for guests who require easy access accommodation on one level, with the added benefit of wide doorways for anyone who requires wheelchair use indoors.
Accommodation: A ramp leads to the front door. Wide hall way with handrail, double
aspect sitting room with plenty of comfy seating, TV, DVD and feature fire. Bright modern kitchen with cream units, electric oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, pine table and chairs. The washing machine is housed in the garage. The back door from the kitchen opens out onto a decked area with table and chairs and lovely views over the surrounding countryside. There are two bedrooms, one has a double bed and the other has twin beds. The bathroom has a bath, wet room style walk in shower, WC, bidet and basin. The large lawned garden surrounds the bungalow and is ideal for croquet and badminton. Ample off road parking on the drive.
