Dartmouth
Dartmouth is a different town at different times of the year – vibrant and colourful when the festivals are in full swing or quiet and intimate as it gathers the cloak of winter close and calms down at the end of each season. In all its moods it is a very special place to visit. Historic streets and alleyways – Nelson Steps, Mount Flagon Way, Kings Quay, remind us of the towns roots as well as offering up treasures of galleries, shops and restaurants for superb treats and souvenirs. The river is busy and beautiful with boats to ferry you up, down or out to sea. Dartmouth Castle has defended the town for centuries but will now welcome you as a friend.
Kingswear
is on the Eastern side of the Dart estuary overlooking Dartmouth and the impressive Britannia Royal Naval College. The village still has a great local shop and Post Office, a selection of pubs and the best teddy bear collection in the West Country. The heritage steam railway is a delightful way to travel and runs seasonally to Paignton following the river and coast, while passenger and car ferries cross to Dartmouth all year round. This is an excellent spot for stepping out onto the South West Coast Path or Dart Valley Trail and is close to the National Trust properties of Coleton Fishacre and Greenway.
