n 2007, after a few years of market analysis, the Green Motion brand was offi cially launched in the UK in three franchised pilot locations. The activity of those fi rst three pilot locations allowed the organisation to develop a very simple concept: to offer leisure and business customers the opportunity to rent greener vehicles to reduce their co2 emissions while benefi ting from greater and improved fuel economy. So essentially it is a green service from a green company.


What makes Green Motion a unique franchise investment? Green Motion is a 100 per cent franchised business. Our business and reputation are in the hands of the organisation’s franchisees, so its number-one goal, as the franchisor, is to make sure franchisees can run successful businesses, and our head offi ce team is dedicated to franchisees and their growth. Currently, the organisation is the only car and van rental franchise to be approved by the British Franchise Association (bfa), and although there are other options, none can match us for support or franchise model.

a fl eet of vehicles and the opportunity to grow this fl eet. Each new franchisee is accepted onto our insurance platform, and we provide business via brokers and marketing, a sales and operations system and a dedicated account manager who is on hand 24/7 to help the franchisees with any problems they may encounter. Green Motion provides full process and guidance on how to run a successful car and van rental model.


What are you looking for in a franchisee? We are looking for dedicated professionals with a passion for business and the ambition to fl ourish at everything they do. A background in car rental is not essential, but it is benefi cial. Ideally, you will have a rich history of running a successful business or helping others to grow their business. The fi rst year of a Green Motion franchise requires dedication to your business, as you will be spending almost every minute at the location making sure your business can reach its goals and targets. Then as the business grows, we will expect you to step into a more managerial role. Each new franchisee needs a real hunger and get up and go. You will be required to have at least £100,000 worth of working capital to open a Green Motion franchise, but we can help to get that funding approved.


Where are your key territories? The key territories we are looking to fi ll are Aberdeen Airport, Bromley/Kent, Cambridge, Reading, Sheffi eld, Watford and Northampton. l
