u Visiting Angels, one of the largest care franchise businesses in the US, has welcomed its first two UK franchisees. Gareth Redmayne and Dunni Awoyemi are both passionate about supporting their local communities in Hatfield and Windsor, respectively. Gareth, who was the first to join the UK
network, says: “I was impressed with the vision that Visiting Angels had for the UK. The whole concept of being carer-centric completely aligned with my values and I knew it was something that I had to be a part of. The size of the territory that I was able to work within meant I could make an impact on more people. “Setting up a homecare business is hard work but it’s a fantastic commercial opportunity, which is matched by delivering a social benefit. I think I am most looking forward to
experienced healthcare manager but, just like all new Visiting Angels franchisees, he flew to the head office in Philadelphia for the first part of his initial training. Gareth, Dunni and the new US-based recruits met with the international franchise support team for four days of classroom- style training.

Mike and Liz Haselden, Revive!
u Running your own business with your partner is something many couples dream of but few can achieve. For Mike and Liz Haselden, Revive!
has provided the opportunity to do just that. Mike bought Revive! Chester in 2005. He’d heard about the franchise’s business potential from a friend who was already a Revive! franchisee. In the early days, Liz worked part time in a marketing role helping Mike out in their home office with admin.
Chester had always been in a minor admin capacity, until Mike started to grow the company and think big. I’ve been able to act as a ‘sounding board’ and play devil’s advocate quite often. “Although the admin role is still required of me, there are now more demands from an accounting point of view, as well as purchasing, specifically where budget planning and strategic thinking is required.“ As a team Mike and Liz share the decision making. Mike says: “We find that discussing important things like the three-year plan and staffing requirements makes the task more manageable and meaningful. We work well together and there’s a huge sense of satisfaction looking back on how far we’ve come.” The couple have won the Revive!
Franchisee of the Year award two years running. They run a fleet of six vans and are looking to expand their business even further.
