Pour yourself a cup of ambition


he days of sitting at a glowing computer screen for eight hours are gone. As a nation, we are breaking free from the restrictions of the nine to five, and beginning to prioritise our free time. While flexible hours are still a fairly new concept to employees, franchisees have already embraced the flexible work- life balance the industry gives. Today, working nine to five isn’t the only way to make a livin’.

Flexibility in general, however, is not a new idea in franchising. While flexibility does offer the opportunity to run your own business and have a better work-life balance, the concept has expanded to mean a franchisee has flexibility in business decisions, customers and clients, and, in some cases, territories. Flexibility could mean the input into the layout of your next unit, or making the final decisions on your future marketing. This month we spoke to a selection of franchisees to see how their franchises were making the most of flexible working patterns and allowing the franchise


owners to benefit from adaptable hours. If you turn to page 26 you’ll read first hand how franchising can truly offer a whole world of flexibility.
