WORKROOM TECHNIQUE
18
Mark the centre back with a pin. Next, measure on the inside the circumference of the shape.
19
Cut 2 pieces wire of the measured length + 10 cm. Gently bend the springiness out of the wire to get better control.
20
Overlap 10 cm at the ends of one wire. Bind both ends to the wire with cello tape.
21
Push the wire into an oval. Start shaping at the point where the wire overlaps and then push both sides in shape.
22
Peg the wire onto the top side of the buckram oval. Glove stitch the wire with a double thread to the buckram shape.
23
Sew the wire close to the edge of the buckram and keep the needle close to the wire.
24
Repeat Steps 20 to 23 for the bottom side of the buckram oval. Next, put the finished shape on the bounded square piece of buckram and draw the inside and outside of the shape on the square. Cut the oval shape between the two lines.
25
Measure the circumference of the tip and cut a wire with the same length + 10 cm.
26
Close and shape the wire as described in Step 20 & 21. Sew the wire close to the edge of the oval buckram shape as described in Step 22 & 23.
