by Judy Bentinck (UK) London-based milliner Judy Bentinck has been producing luxury hats and headpieces for special occasions for over two decades. Balancing contemporary design and heritage couture skills, she creates exclusive pieces as ready-to-wear or bespoke commissions. One technique she regularly uses to achieve the desired end result is to make use of made-to-measure buckram blocks.
You can use this technique to
make a hat with it from any type of material, or to make a shape that
you want to send to a block maker to have it made in wood.
Making a made-to-measure block is a particularly useful technique when you need to create a hat for a customer with a very small or an extra-large head size.
