TRENDS A/W 22/23

investing in exhibiting. Especially for high-end trade show organisers, it is increasing challenging to get the number of exhibitors they need. In the past few years, they have tried to turn the tide by loosening the conditions for an exhibition space, resulting in more low- and mid-range brands on the trade floors. In Paris, several brands complained that this strategy means that the number of visitors of interest to them is declining even further, as lower-range brands attract a different type of buyer. It is a dilemma that doesn’t seem to be easily solved.

The trends

Weddings and hat events are back this year. However, the brands didn’t bring many millinery pieces or occasionwear to the trade shows, as the focus in the collections was mainly on casual wear. One thing that immediately caught the eye at each trade show were the bright and cheerful colours that were used for the upcoming winter collections; with a few exceptions, each brand had several colour explosions in their stand. As a contrast, the shapes of most headwear were quite basic with embellishment kept to a minimum. For the upcoming winter it is all about the smaller details, combined with comfort and the use of high-quality materials.

Comfort & softness Comfort is probably one of

the keywords that best defines

everybody’s wardrobe in the past two years. Looking at the A/W 22/23 collections, it is clear that the need for comfort and softness hasn’t lost any of its attraction yet.
