Tip! The direction of the
Flat square top crown If you have a square- shaped crown, the tip should look this.
Round crown
If you have a round-shaped crown, the tip should look these two ways.
button (+) could either widen or distract from the shape. On a bandeau or a headband shape, the button’s (+) position can give the look of a wide or a slim face shape depending on which way it is used and the way you use lines of the parasisal straw.

Blocking the straw point Fold into the point as demonstrated in Step 7 and include the sinamay and abaca layers. Sew the point into the inverted pleat. Make sure that the seam is centred to the underside point of the block and can be slip stitched from the outside. Cut away any bulky fabric that is not seen as it can be bulky inside.
Blocking the crown from the hem of the cone Pull down the cone grain line edge on to the centre front edge of the block.
Fold the straw into the point as demonstrated in Step 7.
Make sure that a single line of the parasisal is level with the edge of the block and you have a 2.5 cm
Sew the point onto the sinamay and abaca inverted pleat; this should have the underside seam centred to the point of the block.
hem. If this line is straight, the rest of the blocking will be centred correctly on the block.
