Launch of Mes Jolis Chapeaux

A new platform has recently been launched to provide online courses on hat making in French. ‘Mes Jolis Chapeaux’ was created by Nelly Bichet and Marie-Lou Louaintier, two milliners who have been working together since 2018 in their workshop in Saint-Nazaire in western France. The project aims to make the specific know-how of hat making accessible to all and in a manner that promotes ethical and sustainable practice. The platform offers several types of content – from basic-level tutorials, which are free and accessible to all, to complete and detailed video courses, which are professionally filmed and which allow you to create a piece from start to finish. For each video course offered, there is the option of buying and receiving the appropriate kit of materials shipped directly to your home. Also available to purchase are wooden blocks when they are needed to make a particular piece in the course. The launch of Mes Jolis Chapeaux means it has now become even more achievable (for Francophones at least) to make your own hat responsibly from your living room!

Meet-Up 2022

Millinery Meet-Up (MMU), North America’s leading millinery educational and social event, is returning this year as a live event. The North American Millinery Group has announced that the 2022 edition will once again be held in person after the 2020 MMU event had been transitioned into virtual courses due to the pandemic. MMU 2022 will run from September 4th to 9th, 2022 and will again take place at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Founded by Jan Wutkowski and

Diane Shagott in 2014 and now under the leadership of the North American Millinery Group, Millinery Meet-Up brings together students, suppliers and internationally recognised instructors amid the spectacular natural scenery of the Smoky Mountains National Park. The tutors who will be bringing new skills and materials to this year’s event have been announced as Leanne Fredrick, Janet Linville, Geraldine Penistone and Belen Escacha, Jan Wutkowski, and Maor Zabar, as well as returning MMU instructors Eugenie van Oirschot and Laura Whitlock.
