5G BROADCAST MEASUREMENT AND ANALYSIS BY THE NUMBERS

Gsertel BY KEVIN EMMOTT

Measurement tool developer Gsertel has added 5G Broadcast compatibility to its Hexylon meter, the fi rst portable meter to feature this dedicated functionality. Used by DTT operators, FM stations, regulators and broadcasters, Hexylon is capable of measuring, analysing and diagnosing radio and TV signals in any scenario. Following the addition of 5G/4G signal analysis last year, the manufacturer has adapted the unit to be fully compatible with 5G Broadcast, supporting both mixed and dedicated transmission modes. Without the need for SIM cards, Hexylon automatically detects the synchronisation symbol (SSB) broadcast by the

5G Broadcast transmitter and provides RF measurements of base stations (RSRP, RSRQ, SINR) to evaluate connection quality, signal strength and immunity to interference and noise. Other features include the decoding of 5G Broadcast signalling data (MIB and SIB1 tables), obtaining parameters like MCC, MNC and Cell ID, essential for effi cient and reliable network operation; and beam analysis showing information on each detected beam and delays to estimate the distance to each transmission. 8.D76

SNAP UP THE SOUNDBITES Moments Lab BY ANNE MORRIS

New features of the MXT-1.5 multimodal AI indexing model are being demoed on the Moments Lab stand.

IBC attendees can see how MXT-1.5’s automatic soundbite feature highlights the best quotes in a video, while moment-based and timeline searches enable editors and producers to fi nd the exact clips they need.

Philippe Petitpont, Co-founder and CEO of Moments Lab, said: “We’ve seen an incredible response to MXT-1.5 from major media companies since its launch earlier this year, with several initial

deployments underway in North America and Europe. It’s a history- making year for national elections as about half the global population heads to the polls – not to mention several major sporting events taking place. As broadcasters are challenged to produce more content, faster, multimodal AI with features such as soundbite detection make a signifi cant impact on video production and story creation workfl ows.” Moments Lab’s suite of

products for media, sports and entertainment organisations is also available to demo, featuring Just Index with MXT-1.5, Cloud Media Hub, Live Asset Manager and Media Marketplace. 5.H60

LOOK WHO’S TALKING

Lumens Digital Optics Europe BY DAVID FOX

An AI-driven pan/tilt/zoom camera that will always have whoever is speaking in shot has been launched by Lumens. The VC-TR60A 4K dual lens voice tracking camera includes a row of six directional microphones that locate the speaker.

The camera uses AI-based motion tracking to follow presenters when they are not speaking and the AI can also ignore extraneous noises, such as sirens. Kieron Seth, Marketing

Director, Lumens Digital Optics Europe, said: “It also has a 110º

panoramic camera to identify if the sound is coming from a human face (using facial recognition), and if it’s not a human, it ignores it.”

The main PTZ camera has a 12x optical zoom, and the system can output both it and the view from the panoramic

camera on two video streams over IP. It also offers picture-in- picture output over HDMI and USB.

Getting vocal about tracking: Seth with Lumens’ VC-TR60A camera “It is ideal for multi-presenter

presentations, and we’re also getting interest in it for use in radio studios. It can automatically

show the wide shot if desired, while the main camera is moving between people,” Seth explained. 11.B47
