ADDING AN AURA OF FLEXIBILITY Symply

BY KEVIN EMMOTT

SymplyAURA is a single-server appliance from Symply that is designed to meet the evolving needs of modern enterprises. Empowering users to deploy a plug & play S3 object storage repository, it is built on ‘16th- gen software’ deployed and orchestrated on integrated Kubernetes, and caters to both active archive and backup requirements.

AURA can start with a single appliance and customers can scale capacity via the addition of appliances as required, with no software- or hardware-imposed limitations. Its out-of-the-box private cloud deployment is

rich with analytical, reporting and confi guration customisation including multitenancy. Supporting integration with existing public cloud storage and compute services, as well as the ability to run embedded applications, the device offers fl exibility and resource consolidation while allowing customers to bring storage with cloud functionality back on- premises for fast local access and greater levels of storage control. AURA shares the same software platform as Symply’s Transporter, a portable native S3 object storage solution. Finely tuned import and confi g reset tools empower users with an interoperable object storage ecosystem between edge and facility locations. 7.C23

Fujifi lm Electronic Imaging Europe

BY DAVID FOX

Two new portable zoom lenses that provide a cinematic look with a broadcast operating style have been introduced by Fujifi lm. The Fujinon Duvo portable PL-mount zoom lenses work with Super 35mm sensors but can also cover full-frame sensors by using a built-in expander to expand the image circle by 1.5 times, which also extends the zoom range on the telephoto end, going from covering an image circle measuring 28.5mm to one measuring 41.3mm.

The Fujinon HZK14-100mm and HZK24-300mm lenses join the existing box- type Fujinon HZK25-1000mm lens, all suitable for productions seeking more immersive images with

MEDIA OVER IP NETS WORKFLOW GAINS

Hitachi Kokusai Electric Europe BY DAVID FOX

Media over IP integration is key to Hitachi’s latest offerings, including a new CCU for its SK-UHD7000 camera that includes a MoIP option for ST 2110. Hirofumi Suzuki, Managing

Director, Hitachi Kokusai Electric Europe, said: “We also have a new MoIP-only box that doesn’t do traditional camera control, but cameras can be controlled through the network.”

Using an ST 2110 production workfl ow allows camera signals to move directly onto IP networks without compressing signals or affecting picture quality.

“The CCU can also be a receiver

for return video to fi t an entire legacy studio into the MoIP system (or be used in the other direction), so the customer doesn’t have to change the whole studio,” he said. The dual-port 25GbE interface can move one 4K or up to four HD uncompressed signals onto ST 2110 IP or cloud networks, with ST 2022-7 hitless merge functionality to provide network path redundancy. It also supports PTP to ensure proper synchronisation of video, audio and data. bokeh and high dynamic range from larger sensor cameras but wanting the longer zoom magnifi cation range and operability of broadcast lenses. Both lenses weigh just under 3kg and offer maximum T2.9 aperture through most of the zoom range. They use large-diameter aspherical elements and Super-ED lenses to achieve optical performance equivalent to 8K. Ghosting, lens fl air and colour bleeding are also suppressed, and breathing compensation technology is used to deliver natural footage. The lenses support Zeiss eXtended Data for lens metadata. 12.B20
