28 CASE STUDIES, POCS AND DEMOS HIGHLIGHT AI’S TRUE POTENTIAL
As well as being a huge talking point across the IBC2024 showfl oor, AI is also well- represented throughout this year’s content programme, with discussion around the opportunities and challenges it brings along with examples of how the technology is already transforming the industry. For example, today’s Conference Keynote ‘At the Intersection of AI and Creativity: Why the future lies in human-machine collaboration’, taking place at 14:00-14:45 in Conference Room 1, sees Andy Hood, VP Emerging Technologies, WPP and Sachal Dev Duggal, Founder and Chief Wizard, Builder. ai, looking at the ways in which AI opens up new possibilities for experimental creativity by enabling creators to explore unconventional ideas, styles and techniques. The pair will also consider how we can ensure a fair and ethical approach when it comes to utilising AI. In the Delegate Lounge Maria Rua Aguete, Senior Research Director, Omdia, will be exploring key industry themes and trends from 13:30-14:00, including a look at the current impact of AI on media and taking a glimpse into what the future holds. On Content Everywhere Stage 2 in Hall 14, Michael Cioni, Co-founder & CEO, Strada, will demonstrate how the company uses fi ne-tuned AI models to dramatically accelerate workfl ow tasks allowing creative teams to free up more resources to create than ever before. Neal Michie, Director of Product Management,
PACE Anti-Piracy, will then highlight how the software algorithms, including AI, that underpin many of the advances in media production and distribution can be targeted by hackers and unscrupulous competitors. He will share advice on protecting software intellectual property, discuss the risks of reverse engineering, and provide practical steps to protect algorithms. AI will remain on the agenda tomorrow. ‘AI in Action’ will see Huma Lodhi, Principal Machine
Learning Engineer, Sky; Chris Jackson, Global Head of Digital Data and Analytics, Olympic Channel; and Hardeep Dhaliwal, Head of Data Capability, ITV, sharing case studies that provide a deep dive into AI’s real-world applications and how it is optimising operations and unlocking new business opportunities. This extended session, running from 10:05-11:15 in Conference Room 1, will also explore data, GenAI and how real-life case studies can be applied to wider scenarios. In addition, on Content Everywhere Stage 2, Evergent and Google Cloud Platform will jointly show how next-gen AI, in conjunction with traditional AI/ML, offers substantial benefi ts to consumers by revolutionising subscription- based business models using unprecedented personalisation and operational effi ciency. Also not to be missed is the AI Media Innovation Labs Accelerator session on the Innovation Stage on Monday. In an IBC Accelerators fi rst, this project features three challenges under the umbrella theme of AI Media Innovation Labs. The three projects are Generative AI in Action, AI Audience Validation Assistant, and Changing the Game: Predicitive Generative AI. Together they will encompass researching and developing learnings around various AI tools and techniques to improve creativity and effi ciency in production workfl ows, stamping out bias and AI hallucinations to embrace audience sentiments in content development, and exploring predictive video workfl ows in sports production. Visitors with an interest in AI should also take a trip to the AI Tech Zone in Hall 14. In addition to hands-on demos, attendees can also enjoy free sessions on the AI Tech Stage. Highlights over the next few days include Matthew Blakemore, CEO, Al Caramba!, exploring the ongoing transformation of AI in the media and entertainment industries, focusing on how it enhances the creative capabilities
