MASTERING COMPLEXITY

Jochen Bauer, Global Director Sales & Product Management, Guntermann & Drunck

In the dynamic world of broadcast environments, user experience plays a pivotal role in determining the effi ciency and success of operations. As broadcasters navigate increasingly complex workfl ows, the need for intuitive control interfaces and seamless integration becomes ever-more critical. At Guntermann & Drunck (G&D), we address these challenges with innovative multiviewing tools designed to enhance operational capabilities and master the complexities of modern broadcast operations.

INTUITIVE CONTROL INTERFACES Broadcast operators are often tasked with managing multiple video sources and devices simultaneously. Intuitive control interfaces are essential for simplifying this process, reducing the learning curve and boosting productivity. Advanced multiviewing tools allow operators to monitor and control numerous video feeds from a single, user-friendly interface. This streamlined approach minimises the risk of errors and ensures that operators can make quick, real-time decisions – an absolute necessity in live broadcast scenarios. The ability to make prompt decisions and adjustments is crucial in live broadcasts, where

any delay can disrupt the viewer experience. Responsive interfaces and workplaces enable operators to switch between sources, adjust settings and manage content without delays. Furthermore, intuitive design reduces the training time required for new staff, allowing them to become profi cient more quickly and effi ciently.

“Effectively managing the complexity of modern broadcast operations requires systems designed to handle sophisticated workfl ows effortlessly“

SEAMLESS INTEGRATION Broadcast environments rely on a variety of hardware and software systems, making seamless integration essential for a cohesive workfl ow. Advanced KVM systems integrate smoothly with existing infrastructure, eliminating compatibility issues and enhancing overall effi ciency. This integration is vital for scalability and fl exibility, allowing broadcasters to expand their operations and incorporate new technologies with minimal disruption.

Effectively managing the complexity of modern broadcast operations requires systems designed to handle sophisticated workfl ows effortlessly. By offering customisable layouts and advanced control features, multiviewing tools empower broadcasters to maintain control and deliver high-quality content consistently. Modern broadcast environments often involve collaboration between multiple teams and departments. Seamless integration facilitates better communication and coordination by providing a cohesive platform for all users. Multiviewing tools support collaborative workfl ows by enabling multiple users to access and control video sources from different locations, fostering teamwork and improving overall effi ciency. As the media and entertainment industry continues to evolve, the need for advanced technology solutions that enhance the user experience becomes increasingly important. By focusing on intuitive control interfaces and seamless integration, we can address the challenges of modern broadcast environments and drive innovation in broadcast technology. 8.B51

PAIR OF TRANSMITTERS ADDED TO ECRESO LINEUP

Worldcast Group BY KEVIN EMMOTT

Making their IBC debut are two transmitters to enhance the Ecreso FM AiO Series, along with a major software update. In a compact 3U form factor, the 1kW high redundancy and 2kW transmitters feature dual hot-swappable power supply units, two fans and two RF

pallets. This redundancy ensures maximum on-air time, allowing the system to maintain operations even in the event of component failures. In addition to the hardware upgrades, Worldcast has released v3.3.0 software for the entire AiO Series range (100W-2kW), focusing on SFN applications with the integration of a built-in GPS receiver for internal clock references as well as 10MHz and 1PPS outputs for peripheral equipment.

The APT IP decoder has been updated to integrate APT SynchroStream technology for audio content synchronisation over the network. It also features a new Hot Standby backup mode for automatic stream switching in case

of connection loss. Finally, the AiO Series now supports the latest SNMP v3 revision, enhancing security and management capabilities of FM transmitter fl eets. 8.C61
