DISRUPTIVE TECH, DISINFORMATION AND DIFFERENTIATION DOMINATE TODAY’S IBC CONFERENCE AGENDA


Today’s IBC Conference sees informative session taking place in Conference Rooms 1 and 2 as well as in the Delegate Lounge. In Conference Room 1, the day kicks off with ‘CTO Perspectives’, a deep dive into the reality of how the broadcast industry can unlock new realms of operational effi ciency, content delivery and audiences globally. Phil Wiser, CTO, Paramount Global, and Girish Bajaj, Vice President of Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios Technology, will share their insights. With almost half of the world’s population eligible to vote in elections this year ‘Combating Disinformation in News: A critical year for democracies’ will be a fascinating discussion around some of the biggest challenges in areas such as content provenance, the detection of fake news and images, and the authentication of reality, to


help audiences identify trustworthy news and information. Ross Dagan, Executive Vice President & Head of News Operations and Transformation, CBS News, will be leading the discussion. FAST moves into focus in the afternoon with a panel debating the many questions that remain around how effectively entrants and established players can compete in the sector in Europe. Panellists include Kasia Jablonska, Director of Digital and On-Demand for EMEA, BBC Studios; Katrina Kowalski, SVP International Content Programming and Acquisitions, Pluto TV; Laura Florence, SVP Global FAST Channels, Fremantle; and Natalie Boot, Global VP FAST, Insight TV. Today’s Keynote sees Andy Hood, VP Emerging Technologies, WPP, and Sachin Dev Duggal, Founder and Chief Wizard, Builder.ai, looking at how we can ensure a fair and


ethical approach when it comes to AI and why the future lies in human-machine collaboration. The fi nal session of the day in Conference Room 1 will move the focus to sports broadcasting, with Israel Esteban, CTO, BEIN Media, and James D Miles, Senior Director, Live Event Workfl ows, NBC Sports & Olympics, showcasing the technology that was used to dazzle viewers during Paris 2024. They will also share lessons learned and what they mean for the future of sports broadcasting. Elsewhere, Maria Rua Aguete, Senior Research Director, Media & Entertainment, Omdia, will be presenting ‘Media & Entertainment Key Themes and Trends’ at 13:30 in the Delegate Lounge and the Technical Papers presentations continue throughout the day in Conference Room 2.
