#IBC2024

Ken Frommert, President, ENCO
What are the biggest challenges facing the media and entertainment industry? The competitive landscape that broadcasters face and the costs required to enhance service offerings. Broadcasters continue to make investments in technology and resources to better compete with streaming and other modern ways that people consume TV and radio content. Those costs add up, and ENCO has always specialised in developing automated solutions that alleviate some of these costs. Traditionally, that has included radio automation and captioning workflows. Today, we continue to enhance those offerings while also bringing AI innovation to the forefront. Disaster recovery is a second challenge causing concerns for our customers. We have been addressing that for years through our virtualised server solutions and at IBC we are introducing a new application for our ClipFire playout solution that provides immediate recovery for master control operations should the
broadcaster’s air chain go dark for any reason.
How is your company helping its customers to address the challenges faced by the media and entertainment industry? We specialise in helping our customers achieve what they need to do and more with fewer resources. Our position has never been about replacing people with machines; it’s about helping broadcasters create smarter, more efficient workflows that also help them establish new services and grow their businesses.
What are the main areas of focus for your company during IBC2024? We are very excited about our two AI solutions that we introduced at NAB in April, both of which feature generative AI and text-to-speech technology. SPECai is a game-changing ad creation platform that allows broadcast sales teams to create compelling, localised spec ads for radio on demand within seconds in front of clients. In
virtual production and AR/VR/ XR graphics workflow. We will also show the latest advances of AI and automation technologies for enCaption Sierra, a highly accurate, low-latency automated captioning solution that also provides automatic translation functionality.
time for IBC, we have added a voice cloning feature that allows for better customisation of on-air voices. aiTrack is dynamic content insertion tool that leverages generative AI models and synthetic speech engines to provide engaging content for listeners in diverse ways. That may include an AI radio DJ providing song and artist information between music tracks, or an AI news reporter in the television studio. The latter is made possible when combined with our Qimera
What are your priorities for the next 12 months? We will continue to develop our AI, captioning and automation workflow solutions. That includes taking advantage of custom language model improvements that increase the responsiveness and accuracy of our solutions.
What sets your company apart as a technology leader? ENCO has always excelled at pivoting in ways that ensure we can offer the latest technology enhancements to our customers, and build platforms that solve problems. We have always listened to the needs of our customers, and we apply our technologies to meet those challenges. 8.C76
AI AND SEGMENTATION TRANSFORMS VIDEO SERVICE INSIGHTS Agama Technologies BY KIRSTY HAZLEWOOD
The latest product analytics and diagnostics suite from Agama Technologies analyses event and navigation data from a wide range of video platforms, such as web apps, mobile apps and set-top boxes, to provide detailed insights into user interactions.
The company claims that advanced segmentation capabilities allow for effective user segmentation and data correlation, while AI-powered insights add a new dimension to understanding user behaviour.
Deploying the product analytics suite is said to be simple and quick: the analytics engine and visualisation UI are added to a customer’s system without affecting the existing system with the process taking only a few minutes. Johan Görsjö, Product & Engineering Director, Agama, said: “I’m excited to see how our customers use these new capabilities to better understand user behaviour and needs, optimise their platforms and improve customer experience. It’s extremely rewarding to help push the user experience to new heights.” 1.B53
