IMPROVED AUTOMATION CONTROL IS SO PREDICTABLE

Vega, Vinten’s new robotics control system, has been designed with a modern user interface, similar to mobile phones, while building on how automation has traditionally been used in the studio. It has also integrated advanced features, such as automated tracking that can predict where a presenter is moving next, to offer smoother camera moves. Neil Gardner, Product Manager, Robotics and Automation, Vinten, said: “Our previous control system started development 20 years ago, but it was betraying its age and diffi cult to maintain, so we’ve completely rewritten it from the ground up.” It offers “easy access to multiple
preset positions like a traditional interface, but studios are becoming much more dynamic”. The main concept, called Sets, “tells you what equipment is used for which production, so
you only have cameras on the control bar that are relevant to the programme being made”. Other features include geofencing for roaming pedestals, enabling collision mitigation, as well as presenter tracking with face recognition, using AI to analyse motion, to build automation specifi c to an individual and predict their next move. 13.A05

UK audio manufacturer Glensound is aiming to get IBC’s vote by highlighting a range of innovative products at the show, including its European Parliamentary Broadcast System. Designed to meet the diverse broadcasting needs of parliamentary environments and integrating up to 20 specialist hardware products, the system synchronises audio and video, incorporates security features and offers custom panels for audio management and voting capabilities.
