Sustainable, plant-based alternative to retinol

Consumer expectations are shifting. Consumers correlate the appearance of radiant, healthy skin with wellness. In McKinsey’s State of Fashion Beauty 2025 Report survey, 44% of consumers defined beauty as taking care of the mind and body, with over 50% of consumers considering skin care to be a key contributor to their wellness routine, akin to physical exercise.1 The US skin care market is projected to surpass


$31.2 billion by 2030, driven by consumers of all ages embracing preventive care. Despite the burgeoning skin care market, over 90% of women surveyed in 2023 reported frustration with products that failed to deliver visible results, and more than three-quarters noted it often takes over two months before improvements become noticeable.2,3 For more than three decades, retinoids have


been the gold standard for rejuvenating skin. The actives influence epidermal turnover, stimulate collagen synthesis, and reduce visible signs of ageing such as fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven texture. However, their limitations are equally well documented: chemical instability in formulations, susceptibility to photodegradation, and irritation- related side effects, including erythema, peeling, and compromised barrier function, often make long-term adherence difficult.4 Consumers expect more from their skin care
