Collectively, these capabilities make AI a critical and scalable tool for modern AML compliance in the gaming sector. Te above-stated are potential uses of AI and may be under consideration by the industry and regulators.


You serve as a Trustee and Vice President of the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR). Can you describe its efforts to provide AML best practices to your membership?


IAGR plays a strategic, collaborative role in strengthening global AML standards across the gambling industry. While not an enforcement body, IAGR is a vital platform for regulators from more than 70 jurisdictions to share intelligence, align practices, and enhance oversight.


A key focus of IAGR is facilitating cross-jurisdictional collaboration, enabling regulators to stay ahead of evolving AML threats and adopt consistent, effective responses. Te organisation also advances best practices through policy recommendations, comparative research, and guidance on key compliance areas such as customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, and risk-based approaches.


Trough its annual conferences and working groups, IAGR brings together regulators, industry stakeholders, and AML experts to exchange insights and drive regulatory innovation. Tese forums foster meaningful dialogue and promote regulatory harmonisation across jurisdictions. IAGR also supports capacity-building efforts by encouraging ongoing training and education for regulatory authorities, particularly in regions with limited resources.
