Potential new restrictions in Brazil Legislation
A group of seven lawmakers has presented a new package of legislative initiatives aimed at restricting online sports betting in Brazil. According to the lawmakers, “it is up to the
National Congress to adopt a firm and preventive stance to promote responsible regulation of the sector and defend the rights of children and adolescents, as well as protect the mental health of the population.” One of the bills, presented in both chambers,
prohibits advertising and commercial promotion of bets, products, services, or similar arrangements. Te exception allows gaming operators to advertise within their establishments, provided they include warning messages about the risks of gambling, awareness information for bettors, and are prohibited from advertising to individuals under 18 years old. Another bill addresses the limitation of bets,

Te Minister confirmed that he met with executives from Wynn Resorts and MGM Resorts, stating: “Tere are only about five to seven top-tier global operators in this sector, and they all view Tailand as a promising investment destination. "Bangkok, in particular, is seen as highly suitable,
with the potential to support more than one entertainment complex. Te level of control in entertainment complex casinos is actually stricter than in the banking sector. Tailand welcomes nearly 40 million international tourists each year and boasts stunning natural attraction.” Tailand’s parliament reconvenes in July with the
casino bill high up on the legislative agenda. Each casino project will cost between US$6.2bn to US$9.3bn.
Brazil’s land-based bill still on track Legislation
Senator Irajá the rapporteur of Brazil’s land-based gambling bill PL 2,234/2022 has told press that he expects that the bill will be voted on in the Senate by June. Speaking to Brazilian magazine Exame the senator said: “Our intention is to vote on this matter still in this semester, before the recess. Te President of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre, has been discussing with party leaders the best time to schedule the project.” In November, the Senate postponed the vote on the bill that authorises the operation of casinos and bingos in Brazil, and legalises the jogo do bicho (an illegal lottery), among other forms of gambling.
