Sportsbooks need to offer more than just traditional betting if they are to tap into the psyche of Millennials
and Gen Z-ers. Tis “next generation” of bettors can be reached today with the right sort of content – content that we believe combines the worlds of sports-themed mobile games and betting.
Congratulations on securing a supplier licence from the UK Gambling Commission. How significant is this for Playbook Fusion?
Securing our licence from the UK Gambling Commission is a key moment in Playbook Fusion’s roadmap, as it grants us access to one of the most established and largest online gambling markets in the world. More than £2bn is wagered online on sports each year, with player appetite for new, engaging betting experiences at an all-time high. Playbook Fusion is on a mission to bring these next-generation betting experiences to players, so to be granted access to such a large and engaged addressable audience, and to be able to offer our debut title, Playbook Football, to operators for the first time, makes this a milestone moment for Playbook Fusion.
What makes the UK market so attractive for Playbook Fusion and your debut Playbook Football title?
Te size of the market makes it attractive, for sure. But just as important is the calibre of the operators (and suppliers) that have been approved to offer regulated sports betting experiences to players in the country. To receive a licence from the UK Gambling Commission means you are meeting incredibly high standards – the regulator’s criteria remain among the most stringent globally – and this brings plenty of kudos to the business, especially when looking to expand into other markets, which we are absolutely going to do. To have received approval from the Gambling Commission in such as short space of time is a testament to the strength of the team we have built at Playbook Fusion and is something we are incredibly proud of.
Playbook Football brings together the worlds of sports betting and mobile gaming. Why will this combination resonate with UK bettors?
Te next generation of punter is looking for something more than just being able to bet on the outcome of a match. Tey are looking for deep, rich experiences where they can learn, put their skills to the test and engage and interact with other players. Tis is why sports- themed mobile games like Championship Manager are so popular. With Playbook Football, players can take part in a football strategy betting game where they build their own teams, compete in matches, earn rewards and climb divisions while placing bets and potentially

winning money. Tis means it appeals to sports-themed mobile game players as well as bettors.
Tell us more about Playbook Football and the gameplay experience it offers?
Playbook Football is all about building a team, improving performance and competing with others around the clock. Unlike traditional sports betting, Playbook Football creates long-term engagement through squad-building mechanics inspired by popular game
franchises. It also features persistent progression systems, daily rewards and in-game purchases via our in-game currency to help players improve their teams and overall performance. Te core gameplay has been built around a betting-driven loop that integrates betting as a foundational feature and important aspect of the wider experience.
Why do sportsbooks need to add non-traditional betting content to their offerings? Is this an acquisition or retention play?
It’s both. Sportsbooks need to offer more than just traditional betting if they are to tap into the psyche of Millennials and Gen Z-ers. Tis “next generation” of bettors can be reached today with the right sort of content – content that we believe combines the worlds of sports- themed mobile games and betting. Of course, the deep, rich, interactive and ultimately compelling nature of the gameplay in Playbook Football is a powerful driver of retention, and our Player Packs and Boost Cards are integral to this too.
What else can we expect from Playbook Fusion over the months ahead?
We have a packed product roadmap, including updates and upgrades to Playbook Football alongside game launches for other sports such as Basketball and Cricket. We are also pursuing licences in other regulated markets across the world and are getting ready for our first round of operator integrations with the support of Games Global, our exclusive distribution partner. 2025 is going to be a breakthrough year for Playbook Fusion, and it’s great to kick off Q2 by securing our UK Gambling Commission licence.
