New products for 2020 / SBC has refreshed its events portfolio for 2020 to reflect the latest developments in the rapidly evolving international betting and gaming industry. It includes four major events, all of which feature in-depth conference content examining the latest challenges and opportunities for growth in the industry, along with
exhibitions and a range of all-inclusive networking parties. Te schedule begins with CasinoBeats Malta, a two-day event in St Julian’s in March that will focus on the online casino
sector and payments technology. Te following month sees the second edition of Betting on Sports America in New Jersey, which will bring together 2,500 executives to share insights on the fast-growing US market. SBC returns to Stamford
Bridge, London in June for the first Betting on Sports Europe. Te fourth major event will be the company’s largest ever, the inaugural SBC Summit in Barcelona in September. Tis new
international betting and gaming show includes more than 70 hours of content - with 350 speakers sharing insights on
sports betting, igaming, payments, digital marketing and safer gambling as part of a comprehensive agenda - together with an exhibition showcasing the latest offerings from more than 200 innovative companies and extensive networking opportunities.
AGEM INDEX
The AGEM Index increased by 5.39 points in December 2019 to 546.04 points, a 1.0 percent gain from November 2019. The growth was driven largely by Aristocrat Leisure Limited (ASX: ALL), which accounted for 7.30 points of the AGEM Index's monthly gain. A stronger Australian dollar accounted for Aristocrat's index gain as the company's stock price declined slightly. Crane Co. (CR) experienced a 4.0 percent stock price gain from $83.07 to $86.38, which led to an index contribution of 3.28 points. Overall, most AGEM Index companies reported decreases in stock price during the month, with five trending positively and eight moving negatively.
AGEM is an international trade association representing manufacturers of electronic gaming devices, systems, lotteries and components for the gaming industry. The Association works to further the interests of gaming equipment manufacturers throughout the world. Through political action, tradeshow partnerships, information dissemination and good corporate citizenship, the members of AGEM work together to create benefits for every company within the organisation. AGEM Key Board of Directors Actions l Te 2020 election of AGEM Officers took place at the January meeting. Luke Orchard, IGT, is President and was not included in the election as he holds the position for a two-year term. Te following Officers were approved for a one-year term and include Vice President David Lucchese, Everi; Vice President Bob Parente, Scientific Games; Vice President Tom Jingoli, Konami; Secretary Eric Fisher, CPI; Treasurer Hector Fernandez, Aristocrat; General Counsel Daron Dorsey, Ainsworth.
l Kate Chambers, Managing Director-Gaming, Clarion Events, and Greg Saint, Event Director, ICE, gave a presentation at the AGEM January meeting updating members on progress with the forthcoming event. Tis year’s show will have 629 exhibitors, up from 576 last year, taking up a total space of 47,680sq.m. Clarion has focused on investing in new features that include an eSports Arena in hall N10 and additional seating areas. New exhibitor growth comes from the hospitality technology and cybersecurity sectors. Visitor pre-registration is 17,502 (at the beginning of January) an uplift of 40.5 percent from the same time last year. Te conference event, ICE VOX, has also seen investment with an expanded programme and quality keynote speakers and thought leaders.
l AGEM members approved a slate of annual sponsorship requests at the January meeting that included $5,000 for supporting the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) winter and summer events; $5,000 to support Western Indian Gaming Conference (CNIGA), held at Sycuan Casino Resort, San Diego from Feb. 10-13, and a first-time request of $5,000 to support the Responsible Gaming Council (RGC) Discovery 2020 Conference, held in Toronto from April 14-16.
l In Mexico, the Secretary of the Economy recently announced proposal for a new “NOM,” or federal rule, that might require an additional layer of certifications for machines coming into the country. Te AGEM Mexico Committee is working together with both operator trade associations, AIEJA and APPJSAC, to put forward a proposal to argue against introducing the “NOM.” All three associations have agreed to contribute funds to support a combined legal effort.
l AGEM’s Director of Responsible Gaming, Connie Jones recently attended the NCLGS (National Council of Legislators from Gaming States) Winter Meeting, in San Diego, joined by more than 40 legislators from 20 states and 200-plus attendees at the three-day event. Keynote speakers included Bill Miller of the American Gaming Association and Robert Zahradnik of Te Pew Charitable Trusts. AGEM was a sponsor of this event that turned out to be one of the best attended so far.
l As part of AGEM’s support of educational initiatives, Te American Indian College Fund receives an annual Scholarship of $10,000. Tis year, four worthy college students have received $2,500 each to undertake their studies.
