Digital Isle of Man team expects a busy ICE London and year ahead

G3 talks to Digital Isle of Man’s Abby Kimber about what lies ahead in 2020 for the Isle of Man and what to expect at ICE London

What’s the key message from the IOM heading into 2020?

l

We are expecting a high growth year in eGaming, driven to support the increased interest in the Isle of Man as a jurisdiction:

l

Our own review of our eGaming value proposition

l

Review of fees and duty to continue to make the jurisdiction an attractive place to be

l

Continue to push our blockchain proposition and continue to drive blockchain enabled eGaming on the Island

l

Launch an esports initiative which we also expect will drive growth in our eGaming sector

l

All of this will be underpinned by a new team structure and a new way of working to better engage with and support the sector both on- Island and off-Island

How does blockchain factor into l

Abby Kimber, Strategic Partner, Digital Isle of Man

your ICE discussions? l

our blockchain case studies on stand with us during ICE and we will be showcasing the technology and the journey twice a day at an event on our stand, we will also be co-hosting an event with FunFair on the Tuesday evening for a more in-depth discussion

What new legislative and regulatory initiatives can we expect from IOM this year?

l

We spent the last 12 months focussing on our regulatory environment and have a run regulatory roundtables across the eGaming, blockchain and financial services industries

l

While blockchain is a very broad proposition, we’ve seen a high proportion of interest coming from blockchain enabled gaming businesses

Trough our first year we and the GSC have gained a lot of experience and created a proven track record of supporting these businesses without slowing them down

l

As such we expect blockchain enabled eGaming to be a good portion of what we’ll talk about, to support that we will have one of

SIS to showcase 24/7 live betting products at ICE 2020

SIS will be showcasing its exciting range of products at this year’s ICE London, including the highly successful 24/7 Live Betting Channels.

At Stand S2-180, the company will be demonstrating its live 24/7 Live Betting Channels, which feature live and virtual horse and greyhound racing events, presented in an easy to understand format, providing quick-fire betting opportunities with a betting event every 3 minutes and include bet types tailored to meet international customer needs. SIS’s range of live racing includes over 32,000 horse races and 38,000 greyhound races from six continents.

Te watch and bet channels, which are already live with a number of operators across the globe, are delivered as an end-to-end solution including live streamed pictures, data, commentary, on-screen graphics and betting prompts, to keep customers engaged and drive turnover on the high margin content. In addition, SIS will also be showcasing its innovative new esports betting product, SIS Competitive Gaming – the world’s first esports betting product built specifically for sportsbooks. SIS Competitive Gaming features live broadcasts of head-to-head video game competitions between qualified gamers on popular sports titles, offering a

range of markets and prices that are familiar to current sports bettors.

ICE attendees will also be able to find out more about the company’s Trading Services which offer the most comprehensive range of prices and markets on horse and greyhound racing, as well as its new In-Running Pricing Feed, which allows operators to provide odds after the-off.

Paul Witten, Product Director at SIS, said: “ICE London is the biggest trade show in the industry

and it’s an important opportunity for us to showcase our innovative products that are helping to drive turnover for our operator partners.

“Tere has been significant interest from operators in our 24/7 Live Betting Channels, with many customers now signed up, and we expect that to continue, as sportsbooks globally seek to provide their customers with betting events at all times of day. We’re also looking forward to showcasing SIS Competitive Gaming and our innovative new In- Running Price feed too.”

We have created a regulatory roadmap to align our regulation with today’s technology

l

In the spirit of being agile, huge benefits can be realised through the clarification of regulation, rather than the creation of new regulation, as such we are currently working on addressing areas of clarification ahead of regulatory changes

How is the business relationship with the eGaming sector on the island evolving in 2020?

l We announced at the KPMG Isle of

Man eGaming summit in September that we would be changing our way of working to better support the needs of a more mature eGaming sector

l

At the beginning of 2020, a new strategic partnership team was put in place and a new engagement model launched

l

We expect much tighter relationships across the industry with more clarity around ways in which we can support businesses and overcome barriers to growth

Why should visitors to ICE 2020 make a beeline for the IOM booth?

l

As you can see we have a lot to talk about this year, we have our largest government team to date and have partnered with members of the Isle of Man’s eGaming ecosystem to really showcase how the Island can help drive your business growth whether it’s in eGaming, blockchain or esports.

l

Also on the stand throughout ICE we have FunFair, the Isle of Man’s first token supplier licence from the GSC who can detail how the Island has supported their business to become licenced, and how the process exceeded their expectations.
