In the Federation there are also an estimated 120 privately operated slot halls which must operate a minimum of 20 slots (VLTs are not permitted) per club and be a minimum of 50sq.m in size. Tere are an estimated 2,400 slots in these clubs in total.
Te rules only apply to private operators, the lottery is not obligated to have a minimum of 20 machines per club and neither do they have to adhere to minimum distances from schools or churches.
Excluding Novomatic and Mozzart (Serbia) the others are local privately held operating companies. Novomatic has 13 clubs in the Federation and considered the biggest operator followed by Pik Ass with six clubs.
Tere’s no official data to give exact figures for the privately operated clubs in the Federation, but a source says the reason why there is a limited number of private slot halls is mainly
down to a complicated tax system which causes this type of business operation to not be financially viable. Te clubs are taxed at municipality, canton, federation and state level.
Also betting shops are proving more attractive to customers than slot clubs. Electronic bingo in betting shops is becoming the most attractive game in the Federation whilst betting shops are also fairly easy to open and taxes are minimal.
Te source commented: “Typical players are men. Women participate in small numbers and mostly in the Novomatic and Lutrija clubs because of security reasons. Most welcomed are players from Bosnian origin who are playing during the summer season. Revenues in comparison to surrounding countries especially Croatia, are let’s say symbolic.”
In the Republika Srpska there are around 404 clubs with 4,614 slots in total. In Srpska the rules state there must be a minimum of 10 slots
per club and clubs must be a minimum of 30sq.m in size.
In Brčko District there are 18 clubs with a total of 165 slots. So in total throughout the country there are around 660 slots clubs operating 8,600 slots.
In the Republika Srpska the biggest operator is Mozzart with 68 clubs and 684 slots followed by Willi Club with 57 clubs and 588 slots. Novomatic has 17 clubs via the Admiral Club brand with 402 slots and the company was established in Srpska in 2009.

In the Serb dominated entity, Republika Srpska there are 15 companies operating 756 betting shops whilst in the Federation there are 13
