ICE London to Break More Records EMEA
Clarion Gaming, organisers of ICE London, has confirmed the 2019 edition will be the biggest on record, with net floor space growing from the 2018 figure of 43,500 sqm to 45,500 sqm, an increase of just under 5 per cent.
2017/18 growth was due to the demand for space from payments providers, the 2019 growth has, in part, been driven by Sportsbook and iGaming companies

THE NETHERLANDS – Gauselmann subsidiary Merkur Gaming Netherlands recently celebrated the opening of its first Dutch showroom and at the same time issued an invitation to the first in-house trade fair at the newly occupied premises in the Ypex Building.
The G-Box gaming machine for the Horeca market, hailed as the “compact M-Box” also made its debut. Another product highlight to be introduced was the Multiplayer (three interconnected M-Box Trios). In addition to the 300sq.m showroom, the Ypex building also houses a logistics centre and a number of customisation workshops where Merkur Gaming machines are tailored to customers’ individual requirements.
At the opening ceremony, representatives from Merkur Gaming Netherlands and its Dutch sales, logistics and service partner Ypex welcomed over 100 guests from the gaming industry and the world of politics. Among them was Boxmeer’s mayor Karel van Soest, who appeared impressed by the modern building. In his keynote speech, he stressed the special significance of the partnership between Ypex and Merkur Gaming Netherlands, which now represented the internationally operating Gauselmann Group in Boxmeer and hence in the Netherlands. Ypex Managing Director Paul Hutten similarly underlined in his welcome speech the trust-based, successful partnership with Merkur Gaming Netherlands.
The Gauselmann Group first entered the Dutch market over 30 years ago: “We have been conducting business in the Netherlands since the opening of the MERKUR Casino in Amsterdam in 1986. And for the past six years-plus, we have been developing video gaming machines for the Dutch arcade and gastronomy sectors,” commented Athanasios “Sakis” Isaakidis, Chief Executive, International, Head of International Product Management.
“Our success shows that not only are players impressed by our products, but by extension our customers, slot machine operators, are too.”
“One decisive factor for our success was the introduction of the Games Unlimited games in 2012. The launch of the M-Box marked another milestone. Our first-class products are obviously instrumental in our success. But we are not satisfied to ‘just’ settle for premium products – for us excellent service, and that includes local contacts, warehousing and logistics, are also a matter of course. Our site in Boxmeer now allows us to coordinate all these activities directly from the Netherlands,” explains Dirk Sondermann, MD.

Announcing the growth of ICE London 2019, Kate Chambers, Managing Director of Clarion Gaming, said: “It’s important to stress this isn’t a one-off increase in demand for space, but part of a trend which stretches back to 2012, when the show floor comprised 22,500 sqm. Since then, ICE London has grown year-on-year and is now more than twice its 2012 size, a remarkable feat when you consider the level of merger and acquisition activity that’s taken place in the industry over that period.
"While the 2017/18 growth was due to the demand for space from payments providers, the 2019 growth has, in part, been driven by Sportsbook and iGaming companies following the Supreme Court’s repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA). We can’t influence change, but as professional event organisers, steeped in gaming, our job is to respond quickly to developments in the market – either technological or legislative – and to provide the best possible environment in which businesses can conduct business. As the most international gaming event on the calendar, exhibitors know that they can use ICE London as a method of launching into any gaming jurisdiction in the world. In 2018, ICE London
SIS enhances 24/7 live betting with extension of LARC rights deal
UK
SIS (Sports Information Services), the leading supplier of 24/7 betting services, and Tote Media Ltd have agreed an extension to a deal to distribute live pictures and data from the Latin American Racing Channel’s (LARC) racecourses, to fixed odds retail and online operators across the globe.
Te two-year rights extension expands SIS’s Latin American racing portfolio to over 4,500 races per year, with races from Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Peru, and includes some of the top racecourses in the region, such as Hipódromo Chile, Club Hipico Santiago, Hipodromo de Valparaiso, Hipodromo Concepcion, San Isidro, Monterrico and Gavea.
attracted 33,536 visitors from 153 nations and it’s clear that no other gaming event can deliver this volume or spread of international business opportunities.”
While the development of ICE London is positive news for all of the brand’s stakeholders, Kate Chambers is keen to underline the importance of following a managed growth strategy. She explained: “Te relocation to ExCeL London gave us the opportunity to provide exhibitors with the stand options that simply weren’t possible at Earls Court. Following that, we have been careful not to follow an aggressive growth strategy. Instead, we have worked hard to marry the growth of the show floor with a growth in visitor numbers and I’m pleased to say that, in 2018, we were successful in growing the average number of visitors per stand by 17 percent and the average number per square metre by 12 percent."
Te internationalism of ICE London was underlined by independently audited visitor data, which confirmed the largest represented country at ICE London 2018 was Malta (1,910 attendees), followed by Germany (1,445), the US (1,253), Austria (1,170) and Spain (1,097).
Tis latest agreement complements SIS’s recent deal with the Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, further bolstering an international portfolio of premium horse racing from the UK & Ireland, Dubai, Mauritius, Australia, and South Korea.
All of these races will be made available within SIS’s 24/7 Live Betting Channels, which offers 24/7 betting events for retail and online, providing bettors with a betting opportunity every three minutes.
Simon Fraser, Head of International Racing at SIS, said: “We are very pleased to have extended our deal with LARC. Tis deal enables us to deliver an increased number of races from South America to our bookmaker partners globally. Tis quality live racing content further enhances our 24/7 betting offer, which offers live races in every time zone, for retail and online channels.”
