NORD Designs Hollow Socket Shaft

WAUNAKEE, WI — NORD has added another product to its stan- dard offering, a new hollow socket shaft design for NORDBLOC.1 sin- gle-reduction gear units. This shaft design mounts directly to a pump without the need for couplings, sig- nificantly reducing installation time and maintenance, greatly extending the operating life of the unit, and reducing revenue loss from unexpect- ed downtime.

Datest offers flying probe testing and X-ray 3D CT.

team prides itself on its speed and flexibility in providing the best solution to each customer’s unique testing needs. With failure analysis services, this includes

objects other than printed circuit boards, such as casts, welds, plastic enclosures, artwork, auto- motive parts, and entire electronic modules and enclosures. Datest is an ISO9001:2015-, ITAR- and AS9100D-certified company, and is a member of

IPC, SMTA, EIPC, IEEE, and ASNT. Contact: Datest, 47810 Westinghouse Drive,

Hollow socket shaft for NORDBLOC.1.

Couplings have always been a

challenge, and they are a common failure point within drive systems. Keeping shafts aligned not only elim- inates vibrations, but also prevents additional load, wear and tear on drive units. Seasoned technicians are required to adjust and shim, some- times for hours, to get as close to per- fect alignment as possible, knowing that even the slightest misalignment will ultimately shorten the lifecycle of the gear unit. NORD initially approached PSG,

a Dover company, with the idea of a coupling-free system for their Black - mer series pumps. After many months of collaboration, the design was final- ized for a hollow socket shaft for Blackmer’s GNX and GNXH products. The new turnkey design reduced the time and costs of integrating new units to almost zero, making it a preferred pump solution that earned PSG a net

revenue improvement of 47 percent. Contact: NORD Gear Corp.,
