TOKYO, JAPAN — Saki Corporation has expanded its EMEA regional head of- fice in Prague. The new approximately 7,000 ft2 (650m2) solutions center show- cases Saki’s latest 3D SPI, 2D and 3D AOI and AXI systems, as well as inspec- tion solutions with optional software. The center also offers in-house and on- line machine operation training. ASMPT and IBM Collaborate on AI Chip
HONG KONG — IBM Research has been at the forefront of AI development and is now collaborating with ASMPT to optimize hardware and processing. ASMPT will provide a suite of solutions for heterogeneous integration, includ- ing ALSI laser sawing and grooving, interconnect tools and other equipment to support IBM’s research. TopLine Files Solder Column Patent
IRVINE, CA — TopLine Corporation CEO and inventor Martin Hart has filed for a U.S. patent on a lead-free solder column used in the production of FPGA devices. The new product has been developed in anticipation of RoHS require- ments for lead-free columns. According to Hart, the aerospace and defense in- dustry has largely been exempted from meeting the requirements of the EU RoHS directive, but it is speculated that one day RoHS will end the renewal of this exemption. Column grid array (CGA) packages have been shown to be more reliable than BGAs, absorbing stress and increasing solder joint reliabil- ity under harsh conditions. Web:
