pallets, eliminating the need to load and unload pallet reels. The system also has an automatic stacking reel loader. Users can stack up to 150 component reels into the system’s in- put area and walk away. The system will take reels from
the stacks, scan their barcodes and store them. The system’s twin-silo de- sign provides a max capacity of 8,000 reels and a footprint of 17.4 x 7.2 ft (5.3 x 2.2m). It can handle reels from 7 to 15 in. (178 to 380 mm) in size, with thicknesses of 0.2 to 1.7 in. (4 to 44 mm). The patent-pending stacking
unit also allows users to mix reels of different diameters and thicknesses. Sensors in the system sort the reels and place them in the correct shelves.
SMT Material Control Systems AccuID produces a unique reel
ID barcode for each SMT component reel, rather than having an operator scan one label at a time with a hand scanner. The machine’s camera can decode all barcodes on the reel in un- der three seconds and send the re- quired data to the customer’s data- base, using the prefix on each label. In addition, HumiTel sensors
can be used to positively determine that the desiccant is effective inside the moisture barrier bag. The Humi- Tel sensor can be sealed inside the bag with the device and the relative humidity and temperature can be read with the RF receiver.
