Keane cup result Midleton 0-0 Blarney Utd Blarney win 8-7 penal-

ties Midleton will wonder

how they are not in the next round of this cup with enough great chances to win two games, which all evaded them, with some fine goalkeeping from Blarney stopper and slack finishing from the Magpies this game ended scoreless somehow. The lottery of penalties

was the decider and Blar- ney were victorious.

A quick chance for re- after

Saturday’s

defeat to the same oppo- sition. This was a super team performance, which had everything that Satur- day’s performance lacked. The first half was very tight and evenly contested. However, Midleton really upped the ante in the sec- ond half. Robbie Kinane

scored a great team goal in the 60th

minute. This

was followed 10 minutes later by an Eabhan de Bar- ra goal, and then an 85th minute own goal which left Midleton 3-0 up. Well done to everyone.

All the players put in a huge effort and played really well to kick off the league campaign.

9 A big score line against

a team we have found dif- ficult to beat in previous seasons. To be fair, despite the difference between the teams, Midleton played in the right fashion from start to finish. Given that we were down a lot of players, this was a great result. Special mention to Ea- bhan de Barra with the double hat-trick! It’s not very often anyone gets to score six goals in a game. The pick of them was a breakaway from a corner, Eabhan shot into the top corner from the half-way line. The other scorers were

Tomas Dupas, Jamie Col- lins and David Debuf. Well done to Eoghan Deasy for a great

goal-

keeping display, as he vol- unteered to stand in for
