Intermediate Hurling Unfortunately we didn’t

come out on the right side of the Championship re- play against

Ballincollig

last Friday evening in Ov- ens. Even though we only trailed at the break by 0-10 to 0-07 we never exerted enough pressure on them in the second half. A well taken goal from Ross O’ Regan reduced the lead to four points late in the game but in the end they ran out deserving winners by 1-18 to 1-10. Well done to all the play-

ers and management on their efforts throughout the year. Team: Byran Rossiter, Billy O’Shea, Adam Daly, Eoin Moloney, Cillian Hurley, Shane Ryan, Pad- raig O’Keeffe, Shane Finn (0-01), Kieran Mulcahy, Garan Manley (0-06, 4 frees, 65), Jake Hegarty , Ian Kennefick (0-01), Ross O’Regan (1-01), Peter Dowling (0-01) and Tom- my O’Connell. Subs used Kevin Finn, Cian Farmer, Cathal Gunning and Sean O’Farrell.

onship on Saturday next the 1st

and Jake Shana-

han. Subs Patrick Dunlea,

Field Fixture Last Saturday evening

we hosted the East Cork Junior A Hurling quarter final between St Ita’s and Carraig na bhFear where a Seamus Harnedy led St Ita’s came out on top by 1-16 to 1-13. Many thanks to all our members who helped out on the day. Fe 21 All Ireland Hurling Final Commiserations to the

Cork players and manage- ment who lost out in the dying minutes of the All Ireland final on Sunday last at the Gaelic Grounds, Limerick against Tipper- ary

1-16 to 3-13 by conced-

ing a late goal and a point having led by a point in the 62nd

minute. Hard luck to our own

Hurling Championship v Glen Rovers in Pairc Ui Chaoimh at 5pm

(Please note these games may change and will be updated on our website.) Camogie (Camógaíoch-

ta) U9: We travelled to White-

church on Saturday morn- ing to participate in a Blitz organised by Rockban. We played Inniscarra, Rock- ban and Blackrock in what were very competitive and enjoyable games.

There

were great skills on display from our girls. They are a

great are

bunch of girls and getting better every

week! Thanks to Rockban for hosting us. U10: We hosted Innis-

carra in Ballinacurra on Saturday in what was a fantastic game of camogie. With two evenly matched teams it was both a com- petitive and entertaining game with some excellent performances from both sides. Well done to all the girls involved. Thanks to Inniscarra for travelling. U12 Whites: We played Douglas in

the league on Wednesday evening last, it was a great performance from the girls, with some great skills on display we battled all the way through with Douglas just edging us on the night . Thanks to everyone who travelled on the night and thanks to Douglas for host- ing. On Saturday we were on the road again this time to Cloughduv to take on the hosts, in a very com- petitive match the girls put in a huge effort challeng- ing every ball. Well done to Clughduv who came out on top on the night. Thanks again to the fam- ilies for travelling and to Cloughduv for hosting. U16: We began our u16 campaign

championship

last Monday evening in Ballinacurra against Rock- ban. In what turned out to be a great

evening’s

camogie both teams got some fantastic early scores but we took charge of the

game with some great de- fensive displays particular- ly Orla Evans and Hannah Wall combined with great work from Abbie Foley and Vivienne Gleeson in mid- field. Unfortunately as the second half wore on Rock- ban grew more into the game and reduced our lead we found it difficult to get scores.

Inevitably as extra

time loomed Rockban got the winning point to lead at the only time in the game but the most crucial. Final score Rockban 3 - 8 Midle- ton 3 - 7. This was a great performance from this young Midleton team and thankfully we have another game in this competition where the experience of losing our last two games by the narrowest of mar- gins will stand to us. Panel:

Jill Connaughton, Mis-

cha Daly, Orla Evans, El- len Ryan (capt), Caoimhe Cronin, Jodie Keegan O’ Connell, Hannah Wall, Vivienne Gleason, Abbie Foley, Eabha Collins, Leah Hogan,

Ladies Football (Peil na mBan) Our girls travelled to

Mayfield for East Cork Minor League

for game

against the home side last Tuesday in perfect con- ditions

football. We

had only 11 girls availa- ble to us on the night due to girls being away, others had already committed to camogie games and two more on match bans with Cork U16A. Young Rachel Quirke who came along to support the team, gamely offered her services and made it 12, and took up a position inside corner for- ward. Mayfield who had 15 matched our 12 and used rolling subs through- out the game. This was one of the most enjoya- ble games we played this year with both teams full of

running. With a few Continued on next page
