Glenbower is pop- with
walkers,
joggers and nature lovers, and has been the location for many events over the years, including May Sun- day. Some of the clubs that use the woods have made contributions, but further funding is re- quired the
to maintain infrastructure
and improve the ar- eas offering to the outdoor enthusiast. Tickets for the event cost €5 per person, children under 3 go
free. There is also a Family ticket for fam- ilies of 4 or more for €20. Proceeds from the Treasure
Hunt
will go directly to de- veloping a bike stand within the
centre, and repairs to
Hall.
the Community Ms Brennan
said “Glenbower has a lot of potential, and we want to improve the village surround- ings where needed.” “If the Midleton to Youghal Greenway is developed we want to attract more vis- itors and their euro into the region, but at present it’s all about upgrading what’s al- ready there.” Killeagh Inch 2020 can be
contacted
through their Face- book page or alterna- tively you can register between 2:00pm and 2:30pm on Sunday 23 September at the Woods.
SEEING DOUBLE AT GLANMIRE COMMUNITY COLLEGE-A phenomenal seven sets of twins start First Year in Glanmire-

itself to attend this popular post-primary school, known for both its strong academic credentials and its extra-cur- ricular activities. Meet the twins…. Harry Chambers, who
loves hurling, reading and swimming, is joined by his twin brother Luke Cham- bers, who has a keen interest in boxing and video games, from Brooklodge
Watergrasshill Primary Prima-
ry School. The Chambers brothers were not the only twins in their primary school with the Dyczewksi twins making the move to Glanmire Community Col- lege also. Adam Dyczewski is a lover of the arts; be it drawing or drama, while his brother Robert is a fan of the outdoors, biking in particular.
Another fan of the out- doors is Mark Evans from
School who enjoys a round of golf, while his brother David Evans will be par- ticularly interested in the Glanmire Community Col- lege hurling team. There was something in the water in Watergrasshill as twin sisters Alanna and Megan O’Flynn, and Holly and Hannah O’Mahony were also starting in Glanmire to- day. These four ladies are all GAA mad.
Art and music lover
Cephora Kumpaya Mum- puni left Lower Glanmire Primary School with her twin brother Nathan who is signing up for all the school’s technology subjects. The last into the Glanmire Community College
ark
were international level fig- ure skater Sarah Finn and her brother Scott, who’s passion is computers. The
Finns are coming from Riv- erstown National School. This isn’t the first time Glanmire Community Col- lege have welcomed twins through their doors. The most they have had starting together previously however was only three sets, so the staff still have a bit of work to do to adjust their double vision! Today marked the first
day of second level edu- cation for their incoming 86 girls and 110 boys. Stu- dents were
introduced to
their new classes and met their Year Head, their tutors and the 5th
Year Meitheal
Group students who will be their mentors for the year. The transition from prima- ry school to second level is always an exciting time for students and their families, but it can also be a daunting time for many, as they are leaving friends behind and
entering a new and often bigger environment. The support offered to
all students in Glanmire Community College
sures a smooth transition. From the outset, these new students are
available in the
to participate in the many extra-curricular
school,
such as the robotics or dra- ma club, choir, basketball, camogie or the many other school sports teams. Get- ting involved is a sure way of meeting new friends and feeling a sense of belonging to the school. There is nev- er much sleep had the night before the first day of school and for the parents of these twins in particular, they had double the trouble on their hands! Uniforms were pris- tine, shoes shining and faces glowing with anticipation of the exciting years and op- portunities ahead.
