The Youghal Chamber
of Commerce held its AGM on Thursday, 23 August. There was good attend- ance at both the meeting and the networking event afterwards at a barbecue in Farrell’s Summerfield Bar.
Various items were dis-
cussed at the meeting, in- cluding an informative up to date talk from John Innes on the upcoming Iron Man
competition next June. John stressed the importance of local businesses getting in- volved in the whole festiv- ity surrounding the world renowned event, and of creating a value for money experience
for visitors at
the time. Also discussed was the planned knocking of The Hilltop Hotel. This is in the plans for September, with
the concurrence of
the present owner. Barbara Murray (Chamber Mem- ber) said, “The meeting was very positive. Discus- sions covered the various strides being made for the improvement of Youghal, including the opening of the Regal Cinema, the
new Treatment Plant and the ongoing work of the Tidy Towns Committee. We also spoke of the new paving in Barry’s Lane and it was agreed that, while the timing was not ideal, it was necessary to use the grant once it became avail- able and that we will have a wonderful
street scape
when it’s completed.” Overall,
continue an optimistic
meeting with hopes high for a bright future for Youghal and a reminder to all busi- nesses to
their
good endeavours to that end.
