SCIENCE Physics

This course introduces fundamental concepts of physics with emphasis on applications to the world around us. The course is concept oriented and does not make extensive use of mathematics. Mechanics is the branch of physics dealing with the study of motion. No matter what your interest in science or engineering, mechanics will be important for you–motion is a fundamental idea in all of science.

Biology

This is a hands-on, laboratory-oriented course designed to provide students with a thorough overview of the major biological properties of living organisms and the world in which they live. Topics covered include cell biology and reproduction, genetics, DNA/RNA/protein synthesis, microbiology, evolution, invertebrate biology, and ecology. Students perform numerous lab exercises including working in the field, interpreting data, and forming conclusions. The students will also develop written communication skills through laboratory reports, library research papers, and oral reports.
