The EGT stand at SAGSE
Positive and upbeat mood permeates floor at this year’s SAGSE
Tere was a far more upbeat mood at this year’s South American Gaming Expo and Congress (SAGSE), which took place between November 16 and November 18th in Buenos Aires.
Exhibitor stands were noticeably busier than in recent years and there was a general air of optimism - something which has been been lacking over recent years.
As usual we were present in Buenos Aires to cover the exhibition and talked to some of the key players about their latest products and their thoughts on the ever changing Latin American market, with especial emphasis on upcoming legislation in Brazil.
EGT seeks to expand
further across LATAM EGT’s Stanislav Stanev describes EGT’s offering in LATAM and the opportunties for future growth
Tis year at SAGE we are presenting our bestseller product our Premier pit 24 Upright machine which is now present in fifteen countries around the world and is also present in Argentina. Apart from this one we are also presenting our next product from the premiere series: the Slant Top models and the Jackpot as well. From the Jackpots we are presenting here Egypt Quest and the Fu Gui Rong Hua - a Chinese-themed progressive jackpot. Tis is the first time they’ve been presented at SAGSE.
We are present in Buenos Aires as well as the other provinces in Argentina. Our goal next year is to expand a little bit in Latin American. We have recently opened three new offices this year in Colombia, Peru and Mexico and we also want to focus on Argentina as well. When it comes to Peru we will be looking at focusing on Lima first and then we are looking to expand in other cities as well.
I am looking very closely at news every day in Brazil. Hopefully they will open soon. My personal opinion is that they will maybe open
GLI’s Luis Marrone looks back at SAGSE past and to the future
We are here again taking part in SAGSE to offer our services and connect with important players in the industry, which are the regulators on one side and the manufactures on the other. We help to answer regulator questions when it comes to the scope of gaming regulation, especially concerning online gaming right now, which has developed so much, so quickly. It is also important for the manufacturers, because some of the
jurisdictions are beginning to require e- gaming and online gaming certification, such as Colombia. What we are seeing according to our usual work, which is certifying equipment, is an evolution towards online and e gaming systems. Tere are two jurisdictions in
later next year. Tey have to vote first in the parliament - it is very complicated. So far the impression is that all the exhibitors are here now. It is very different to how it was two years ago when we were last present when it was a little bit empty. Tere were very few manufactures exhibiting here. Now I can see that all the guys are here back at SAGSE and there is more positive feedback. Buyers are here at the show, but what we are missing a little bit is people from other countries in the area. Tis is because in Peru they have their own show and in Colombia and Panama as well.
In my personal opinion there will not be so much growth, but the market will be more regulated in the future. It is much better for us when the exact terms, rules and requirements are in place. Specifically the multi games work very well here and are very popular in the Latin American market in central America and in the Caribbean, in Mexico, Panama and Colombia where they are well accepted and played a lot.
Argentina that have included rules in their normative e-gaming regulations. In Chile they are looking to pass legislation on online gaming. In the case of Colombia, the country has been looking at e-gaming since 2015. We have strong contacts with Colombia having collaborated and assisted the government when they started to issue their new regulations in relation to gaming machines and online systems. We assisted in producing rules and in some cases we assist and we perform inspections but not on a regular basis.
As regards to Brazil, I think that it’s now the fourth or fifth time that the government has sought to regulate gaming, so it’s still not a done deal.
