Martin Britton, Managing Director GLI Europe


Martin Britton has a long history in the European gaming industry, including positions as Chief Operating Officer for Cyberview Technology, Technical Director and Commercial Director for TCS/John Huxley and Commercial and Technical Director at VIP Gaming. Martin initially began working with GLI in June 2008, acting as UK Business Development Manager. In January 2009, Martin became the full-time Director of Engineering at GLI Europe, with the responsibility for managing all engineering activities in the Netherlands office. In 2012, Martin was promoted to Managing Director of GLI Europe.


Maintaining an open dialogue between clients and regulators


“We’re extremely conscious of how we conduct our testing in terms of resources, cost, location, time zones etc. You need to consider all those factors from the client’s perspective and put their interests first. If we’re not the best suited, or best placed to help a customer with an international project, there will be resources within our global infrastructure that can seamlessly resolve any issue. It’s about being timely, efficient and cost-sensitive in a business that is truly global in its market reach.”


GLI Europe’s Managing Director, Martin Britton, describes his own personal journey within the company and the changes that have taken place under his watch, both internally with the business and in the wider international gaming sector


Approached by GLI CEO James Maida while exhibiting at the ICE show in London, Martin Britton initially joined GLI Europe to assist with the development of the UK market sector. A six month consultancy role evolved into a permanent position when it became clear that Martin’s engineering background and clear understanding of the international gaming markets would prove invaluable to GLI going forward. “I originally came to Holland to oversee the engineering department in a role that was meant to be just five days a month,” explains Martin. “I knew right away, however, that to manage this role properly was an everyday task. I said I’d commit to six months, and that’s where I’ve stayed. It’s now been nine years.”


Tere has been a lot of changes within GLI Europe during those nine years and as a business, the company has grown in both size, market position and geographical reach. Plus, i-gaming has played no small part in helping to expand GLI Europe’s operations. “As online came on stream we’ve benefited from market growth in Europe, but we’ve also had to adapt to the new challenges igaming has thrown up, to the greater competitive environment for testing and to the needs of the development teams within GLI,” states Martin. “We’ve had to adapt to meet the growing needs of our clients across a wide

variety of sectors and markets. To achieve this, we assessed every department within the company, focused on critical areas, reviewed our capabilities, and sought in every way to intensify our focus upon our clients.”


From 2008 to 2012, Martin’s role within GLI was to help shape and concentrate the actions and performance of GLI Europe’s engineering team, but when the position of Manager Director became available, Martin’s understanding of the inner workings of the business, and client orientated approach, made him the ideal candidate for the role. Since then the business has expanded covering offices in Spain, Italy, South Africa and working closely with GLI Austria


“We have a great team in every office and I am very proud of what everyone has achieved. It’s great to see new people on board, see staff grow, be promoted and move onto greater challenges,” says Martin. One of his primary roles is to ensure that each office is working in synergy, not only within GLI Europe, but within the International Group as a whole.
