SHOW PREVIEW

A Brisk Return To Brum

We preview the fourth UK Pool & Spa Expo which with a new schedule, returns to Birmingham’s NEC in late November By Jon Wadeson

and quicker each year, this one actually has with this, the fourth edition taking place a good four months ahead of the previously scheduled date.

T

It means a second event during 2015 for the exhibition and whilst some will view this as far from ideal, the move follows an unsuccessful attempt to merge the exhibition with SPATEX which would have resulted in a single event at the start of the calendar year. However, after it was clear that no combined event would happen, the show’s organisers decided to move the exhibition in-line with the other events on the global show timetable. The change will also see next year’s event running in October, ahead of Lyon. Event Director Claire Saunders explained: “With change comes progress, in order to move forward, stay abreast of what is best for the industry and break new ground, we must adapt. The new dates come into line with global events. It allows us to stand apart from any other show in the UK and is therefore perfectly placed for companies to showcase their newest products to the UK marketplace.”

he UK Pool & Spa Expo returns to the NEC’s Pavilion during 22 - 24 November and whilst some annual events seem to come round quicker

According to the team at show organiser’s New Events, staying at the NEC was an obvious choice. With the rail, road and air transport links arriving right on site it makes it the ideal location for both domestic and international exhibitors and visitors and with the new Resorts World, the social scene opens up a whole new networking arena (not to mention a luxurious choice of hotels, bars and restaurants).

Also staying the same will be the panel forum which was a real success earlier this year. Alongside it there will be seminars on safety and energy efficiency as well as the opportunity to gain a Certified Pool Operators certificate at an onsite two day course. So what’s new? Aside from the date change, the event team has been working hard on trying to get the right balance of exhibitors to the show. There had been a number of comments that the event leant too much towards the spa and hot tub sectors and whilst it has certainly enjoyed success attracting many well known brands from those sectors, special attention has been paid to the swimming pool companies and how to make sure there is a good balance of each. Portrait Pools, Doughboy and On-site Pool Linings will be leading this particular parade with a number of ancillary companies giving

the support that the New Events team hope will attract not only pool seekers, but also owners and upgraders. Crown Pavilions, Pool- dek by Stage Systems and The Brio Group are all new for this edition but many old favourites will also be returning. They include the team at Aqua Warehouse Group (whose brands include Vita Spa, LA Spas and Aqua Spa Supplies) who will again have a large presence at the show along with substantial offerings from Wellis, Passion Spas, Spa Solutions, Superior Spas and Villeroy & Boch. After a year’s absence, returning for this edition are Hydropool too. With free parking, free Wi-Fi and free tickets to the show, it is clear that UK Pool & Spa Expo are doing everything they can to bring value to both visitors and exhibitors of the wet leisure industry. The organisers are excited about the latest scheduling strategy which makes sense and takes some pressure off the start of the year for many companies and they feel it will take them forward and make them become the right choice for pool and spa professionals both in the UK and around the world.
