P U B L I S H I N G
In this issue we have brief previews of each but to really get an understanding of the changing trends, innovations and new products that are available, attending these shows is a must as many companies use events to showcase what’s new and discuss any advances face-to-face.
Well that’s another summer that won’t last for too long in the memory! In fact it seems like ages ago since I was at a BBQ. A pity for supermarkets and butchers maybe, but the lack of memorable summer weather doesn’t seem to have put the dampeners on a buoyant wet leisure industry that has enjoyed another busy and by all accounts profi table year so far.
But with summer and the traditional season now behind us, the wet leisure industry moves into autumn and therefore show season. By the time you receive this edition, a revamped LIW will have been and gone and attention will then turn to the rapidly approaching, major dedicated industry shows that are taking place around the globe. These include the renamed Piscina & Wellness in Barcelona and aquanale in Cologne, both of which are biennial and take place in October. They’re followed in November by the UK Pool & Spa Expo which like the LIW show, is held at the NEC in Birmingham. “Didn’t that already happen this year?” I hear you say. And yes, it did. It’s taking place for the second time in 2015 following a schedule change to bring it in line with the global show calendar.
In Barcelona, winners of the third annual 2015 EUSA Awards will also be announced and once again, the UK has strong representation. As as a judge and having seen all the entries in what is an expanded format this year, there’s a good chance of the UK repeating the successes from the fi rst two Awards and SPN will carry news of all the winners in our December edition and online.
With the weather still very much hit and miss now increasing, thoughts of the industry have already turned towards the expected cooler and wetter months. So the timing for a new feature on Winter Debris Covers in this issue is more than appropriate. For those that want to extend the season, this issue we also take a look at some eye catching Enclosure solutions that are enhancing both pools and hot tubs. Still on the subject of eye catching, we also cover Tiled Spas and Swim Spas, a market that is going from strength to strength thanks to their fl exible and luxury bespoke designs plus there’s High-end Hot Tubs too, which is another important sector for the trade. Safety Flooring and Aqua Exercise Equipment also feature as does an Opinion piece from Jamie Adams and thoughts from Peter Lang about pools of the future.
Of course, we’ve also got all the latest industry news from both home and abroad plus information from STA and the BSPF. So with a wide range of subjects on offer, hopefully there’s something of interest for everyone.
I hope you enjoy this autumn issue of SPN and if you are out and about at any of the shows over the coming weeks, do say hi and feel free to let me know your thoughts on SPN, the industry or anything else for that matter!
