WINTER DEBRIS COVERS
ARE YOUR CUSTOMERS COVERED? As you might expect, Golden Coast is ready with a variety of covers that meet differing customer needs and budgets. The company stresses that a summer solar cover should not be used for debris and UV exclusion over the winter as it will be damaged by frost and its life will be shortened. An exception to that rule is found in its EnergyGuard range of solar covers. These can be used in winter, as well as summer. Truly versatile, they save energy, water and chemical consumption by insulating the pool and absorbing the sun’s radiation during warm periods – all while continuing to keep out debris and protect the pool all year round. Constructed using GeoBubble technology, their many additional benefi ts include inhibition of algal growth. Golden Coast’s purpose-designed Swimmer winter debris covers are made from a durable polypropylene mesh specially formulated to fi lter out debris while allowing clean water into the pool. Available in a range of sizes and shapes to ensure a tight fi t for any pool, they can also be manufactured to accommodate structures, such as intruding ladders and outside step sections. Customers may choose a Classic version or the Superweb option. This, which is supplied with a ten-year guarantee, offers crisscross webbing, stainless steel spring fi xings, reinforced strap points and other extra- strength features.
As exclusive UK distributor for the full range of stylish and advanced automatic slatted pool covers from DEL, Golden Coast has recently introduced the manufacturer’s unique IVERNEA winter shield. IVERNEA is compatible with all of DEL’s slatted covers, as well as products from other leading manufacturers which use PVC or polycarbonate slats.
AQUAFLEX’S DEBRIS DEFENCES Aquafl ex debris covers are a popular choice with the pool trade and for very good reason. Winter protection is vital for any pool and Aquafl ex’s winter debris covers offer the perfect solution to keeping leaves and other unwanted items out of the pool whilst shielding the pool water/liner etc, from what even in winter can be damaging UV rays from the sun. Made from specially formulated, top quality, durable polypropylene, this tight mesh allows rainwater to pass through but keeps the pool water crystal clear.
There are two types of debris cover available from Aquafl ex; The Emperor and The Sovereign, both of which are supplied with a storage bag and a three year pro rata guarantee. All covers can be manufactured to accommodate ladders etc intruding into the pool as well as step sections outside the pool. All varieties of shape and size can be supplied, with standard sizes generally available from stock. All rectangular covers are made one foot (0.30m) larger than the pool all round (i.e. add two feet (0.60m) to the width and length of the pool to calculate the cover size. The Emperor is anchored using stainless steel, spring assisted ‘P’ anchors and is also available with criss-cross reinforcing straps between all anchor points. Additional protection from abrasion is provided by the anti-chafi ng strips on all straps and large square reinforcing panels on all corners. The standard interval between straps is 4’ to 5’. Closer spacings (usually 3’) as well as continuous anti-chafi ng panels around the perimeter of the cover, are available as optional extras.

using rubber tensioners and ‘P’ anchors. These tensioners are connected to the cover by eyelets spaced at 4’ to 5’ intervals around the perimeter. Each eyelet point is protected by an anti chaffi ng strip.
For complete protection, coupled with low cost, the Aquafl ex Easibag cover is the answer. It completely seals off the pool for the winter so that light is prevented from entering and causing algae growth. Debris and water which build on top of the cover need to be removed in the spring before removing the cover. In order to make it easier to remove the cover in the spring, an optional mesh drain is supplied. If desired, the PVC covering the mesh can easily be cut away with scissors. Unless otherwise requested, all Easibag covers are made 2’ (0.61m) bigger all round than the pool. This means that the cover will be 4’ (1.22m) wider and longer than the pool itself. Samples of Aquafl ex debris cover material are freely available and the latest brochures of Aquafl ex products and price lists can be downloaded from Aquafl ex’s website.
