Cardiff and Vale College has officially opened the doors to its £45m City Centre Campus, which features a new thermal spa from DaleSauna. Developed in partnership with Rightacres and Willmott Dixon, and backed by £20m from the Welsh Government, the new City Centre Campus is hailed as one of the most ambitious educational projects in Wales.

The wide range of industry-standard facilities include a thermal spa to be used for teaching purposes as well as a commercial venture. Appointed by Willmott Dixon, DaleSauna has created a thermal offering comprising a sauna, steam room, spa pool, ice feature, dry float and feature showers that meet the requirements of Level 3 Spa Therapy as well as the demands of modern users. “DaleSauna have become recognised specialists in the design and supply of equipment to beauty colleges, and have supplied most of the UK’s new build and refurbishment projects over the past few years. Plans for a breathtaking, suspended swimming pool named ‘Sky Pool’ have been unveiled for Embassy Gardens in London’s newest neighbourhood at Nine Elms on the South Bank.
The stunning outdoor pool will link two residential buildings at the 10th storey, which is 35m high, and allow residents to swim from one building to the next. Made from acrylic, the 25m x 5m pool will be entirely transparent and structure free and have a water depth of 1.2m.
Designed by Arup Associates, with specialist input from Eckersley O’Callaghan and aquarium designers Reynolds, the experience is intended to be more akin to an aquarium than a pool, with material used being 20cm thick.

The pool is the vision of Sean Mulryan, Chairman and CEO of Ballymore Group working with the scheme’s architects in collaboration with HAL Architects.
