FIBALON® – High-tech Filtering In A Mini Format
FIBALON® is an innovative
and patented polymer fibre filter which was developed in conjunction with the University of Technology Nuremberg Georg Simon Ohm. According to the latest scientific findings, FIBALON®
consists of a
combination of different polymer fibres with diverse surface structures and special fibre cross sections.
The secret of FIBALON® is
the interior of the fibrous ball which consists of a slightly denser core and a softer wrap. The balls nestle together to form a consistent filter bed. The deliberately chosen spherical shape maximises the filter media’s surface area and therefore a high dirt capacity. The company also developed the DyFix®
fibre fixation which
yields an unusually high particle retention rate and provides deep penetration of particles into the FIBALON®
media bed to provide
excellent filtration results. One of the big advantages of the product is its ease of handling, thanks to its low weight, FIBALON®
leads the
field with a minimum weight to excellent energy balance compared to a conventional filter with a 350g bag of FIBALON® equivalent to a 25kg bag of sand or glass media. Long life and maintenance free, FIBALON® is universally applicable and suitable for use in swimming pool sand filters, as well as cartridge filters. This opens the market for FIBALON®
up to above-ground
pools, spas and hot hubs too. FIBALON®
offers genuine cost savings through reduced
water consumption through reduced backwashing, reduced energy consumption as a higher standard of filtration is delivered in a shorter period of time, meaning the filtration system operating cycle can be reduced. Also greatly reduced is the wear and tear on the filtration systems due to lower operating pressures. In addition to those cost savings, the user will see a reduced chemical
consumption as flocculants will no longer be required and biofilm formation is inhibited.

The New All-In-One AstralPool Electric Heater
The new Compact Electric Heater by AstralPool is a revolution in the world of water heating. Its modern look, technology and display make it unique. Whereas all current products on the market have an external component in the main body of the heat exchanger (e.g. the flow switch), the all-in-one design of the Compact Electric Heater means that all of the components are found inside the main body. The design makes the device more user- friendly because it no longer has an industrial look and instead becomes something that customers would want in their home.
All heat exchangers work by activating and deactivating the heating elements to heat water. AstralPool’s new heat exchanger works exactly like this, however the difference lies in the process. Normally, this is done using one or two contactors, whereas this device uses Triacs (thyristors).
They have many advantages including being smaller and more reliable. With no moving parts, they also don’t make noise plus they have a longer lifetime.
Heat exchangers usually feature displays that only show the temperature of the water and nothing else. The brand new feature of the Compact Electric Heater is the display with sensory buttons as a user interface.
The Compact Electric Heater shows: • If the device is switched on or off. • The temperature of the water as it enters and leaves the heater. • The temperature setpoint. • If the water is flowing or not. • The units of measurement (¼C or ¼F). • The number of heating elements that are connected. • Detection of proper water flow.
