P 2 9

AEMGA joined the Revolution 15th May, Food Revo- lution Day, a very dear cause to the British Chef, Jamie Oliver, who launched this campaign 4 years ago and now it is a global event. Just to give an idea, this year, 196 countries got together to defend Food Educa- tion in schools so as to fight overweight and

child obesity, which already affects 42 millions of chil- dren under the age of 5. Among other activities, Jamie Oliver asked people all over the world to “Sign the Petition”, which you could (still can) do online (http://www.foodrevolutionday.com). This alone got more than 1 million and 5 hundred thou- sand signatures just to get food education in schools worldwide to fight the epidemics. Besides, Jamie Oliver also included a healthy, easy-to-prepare sandwich reci- pe, so that everyone, children included, could make it. Ed Sheeran, popular Scottish singer, joined in and wrote the campaign hymn, uploaded on YouTube (Food Revo- lution Song

Obviously we couldn’t be left out of this event. So many students signed the petition, listened to the song, read about this campaign and 11º 4ª even watched Jamie Oliver Special Show live from London. It was an amazing opportunity to include such an im- portant topic in classes, to have slightly different lessons, to have a spectacular guest hosting the lesson, and to alert students to this serious situation, at the same time allowing them to listen to native speakers and the won- derful communicator that Jamie Oliver is. We can’t wait for next year!■
