Events Worthy Meeting Metropolis
April 3-5, 2012 Philadelphia, Pa - Meeting planners and tradeshow organizers convened at the newly expanded Pennsylvania Convention Center “Meeting Metropolis” summit, designed to educate industry decision makers about why to choose Philadelphia. The three day program brought together top thought leaders in the meetings industry for educa- tion, conversation and to learn about an innovative meeting experience.
The opening event for Meeting Metropolis, “The Future Begins,” featured live entertainment from local performing artists and cultural groups, and food from Philadelphia’s caterers and chefs.
“The Pennsylvania Convention Center was thrilled to host Meeting Metropolis and showcase the features that make this the best facility in the country, “ said Ahmeenah Young, president & CEO, Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority. “Our goal of providing the best customer experience is a genuine reality.”
“This is a great opportunity for the expanded Pennsylvania Convention Center to show off what makes Philadelphia the Complete Package for planners,” said Jack Ferguson, President & CEO,

Authority
announced that they have entered into a Memorandum of Agreement to the existing contract with Elliott-Lewis Corporation to eliminate the 8% labor management fee that has been charged to customers and exhibitors for supplying unionized labor services at the Convention Center. The elimination of that fee is an initial step in the transition to a new business model that will greatly assist in lowering labor costs at the PCCA and help to attract new business to the now larger Convention Center.
