The Pennsylvania Convention Center’s Complete Package helps to add to the appeal of Philadelphia as an ideal loca- tion for meetings and conventions. Philadelphia’s “walkability” and the con- vention center’s accessibility help to keep costs down, which also appeals to trade show organizers who can pass any such savings on to their customers.
In 2012, the PCVB is expected to wel- come more than 225 meetings, conven- tions and trade shows to Philadelphia (including at the expanded Pennsylvania Convention Center), and expects more than 560,000 attendees.
In Wilmington, Delaware, Chase Center on the Riverfront has opened a door to the creation of local and regional trade and consumer shows in the state over the years that previously did not exist. The facility also has become an ideal loca-
tion for several national shows seeking to fill an untapped marketplace.
“The success of the Chase Center depends on the show’s ability to combine an effective marketing promotion plan to attract sponsorships, exhibitors and atten- dees with a well-executed show so that everybody is happy with the end result,” said Kerrie Van Horn, director of market- ing for Chase Center on the Riverfront. “So our team works with each show produc- er individually to assist them and offer expertise to ensure a successful show.”
Van Horn said Chase Center’s team also may assist with marketing support if the organizer is new to the area. They work within the organizer’s budget to grow their events and can create multi-year packages or other creative options. Post- show meetings are very critical to the process, as well.
