“Distrito, on the other hand, hosts the most recruiting events, which generally fall under the legal sector,” she continues. “More than 50 percent of our events come from these market segments, totaling approximately 750 events per year. Topping the list are recruiting functions along with pharmaceutical dinners.”


Because most pharmaceutical planners require privacy above all for their func- tions, their meetings must take place in a completely private room which can be closed off for added security. These groups also require audio-visual equipment (such as a projection screen or TV, a projector and sometimes a microphone), all of which can be easily accommodated in a variety of the spaces offered by Garces.


“Most groups, aside from those from within the pharmaceutical industry who require privacy, are usually content with a separat- ed area that does not need to be com- pletely closed off. In fact, many of our meet- ing groups prefer to experience the ambiance of the entire restaurant,” notes Moore.


“One of the nice things about most of the Garces Group restaurants is that we can offer privacy to our groups while still keep- ing the feel of the restaurant,” observes Moore. “Many of our restaurants offer the option of exclusive use of the entire space so the group doesn’t have to stay within a closed off, private room.”

hen it comes to bookings, Moore says that pharmaceutical dinners have changed a bit over the years.


Where they used to be booked directly with the pharmaceutical representative, many pharmaceutical dinners are now coming into the restaurant through third party bookers.


With regard to recruiting dinners, she notes that they used to be primarily sit-down affairs with little room available for min- gling. That has changed over the years, however, with most of them now being cocktail and heavy hors d’oeuvre recep- tions that
