A number of regional resorts and hotels are making it easier than ever to incorporate a massage, a relaxing dinner or an invigorating workout into your group’s downtime while on site meeting at their property.
These venues show planners and attendees how they can couple use of event space with use of spa facilities and recreational opportunities to incorporate some relaxation and recreation into their next business trip.
One such property is The Spa At The Hotel Hershey in Hershey, Pennsylvania, which offers a three-story, 40,000-square foot full- service European-style spa that overlooks the formal gardens of The Hotel Hershey.
“The facility opened in 2001 and com- pleted an expansion in 2004 that doubled its size,” says Rachel A. Dinbokowitz, public relations specialist for Hershey Entertainment and Resorts. “The exterior architecture of the spa mirrors the origi- nal historic hotel in style and color. The interior decor was inspired by High Point, the home of Milton S. Hershey and his wife Catherine.”
The Spa At The Hotel Hershey has many options for groups and organizations, including those looking to use this space for unique functions and those who want to add on to it with some recreation, as well.
“Corporate groups of 20 to 200 have used the spa for new product launches, team building activities, networking events and seasonal parties,” says Dinbokowitz. “Spa services also can be incorporated into meeting and event breaks. Designed to leave attendees refreshed and energized,

options include: aromatherapy; chair and hand massage; and stretching and breath- ing exercise facilitated by a Yoga instruc- tor.”
“Wellness breaks also include healthy snack options, like fresh fruit, vegetable crudites with herb dip, trail mix and salted mixed nuts, assorted energy bars and low- fat yogurts, plus assorted flavored seltzers, fruit juices and bottled water,” she adds.
Dinbokowitz further notes that there are many spa services available at The Spa At The Hotel Hershey, too, that meeting plan- ners may book for their groups, many of which can be found on their website at

The Chocolate Spa group sales team also can recommend a customized package to meet the group’s needs and to help them get what they want out of their spa expe- rience. For example, treatments to help them with focus, to re-energize, etc.
“We find that a lot of groups will book a massage,
facial and lunch,” says
Dinbokowitz. “They can choose from tra- ditional services or items on our signature
collections, Chocolate;
including:
Rose Garden;
Everything Cuban
Experience; and Country Abundance.”
Dinbokowitz also adds that, in addition to treatments, the spa offers salon services, steam rooms, sauna, complimentary fit- ness services and classes, and The Oasis (a spa guest-only restaurant). “The spa also has different relaxation lounges that include an 'Inhalation’ room, 'Quiet’ room, 'Silent’ room, and a lounge area at The Oasis.”
In St. Michaels, Maryland, Harbourtowne Golf Resort and Conference Center also is a great location for various types of events, offering many recreational options for guests who want to relax and enjoy some downtime during their stay.
“We are a waterfront hotel located on the banks of the Eastern Chesapeake Bay and Miles River,” says Cheryl Alfes, director of sales for Harbourtowne Golf Resort and Conference Center. “Our property features 111 waterfront guest rooms that have bal- conies or decks overlooking or within feet of the water. We have an 18-hole signature Pete Dye Golf course that our guests can use at a discounted rate. Our property also features two restaurants, two bars, a large pool, tennis courts, volleyball and bikes - all within a picturesque park-like setting.”
Alfes also points out that Harbourtowne has over 8,000-square feet of meeting space and private waterfront areas at which to entertain groups for private func- tions.
“Our property features two large meeting spaces that also can break down into three separate breakout spaces,” says Alfes. “Our largest space is the Prospect Bay Ballroom, which offers more than 2,000-square feet of meeting space. Prospect can seat 180 people in a theater- style setting or 160 in rounds, and offers many other options for meetings. Our Shaw Bay Ballroom is smaller than Prospect, however, it can accommodate 140 guests in rounds.”
Alfes notes that two additional meeting spaces on site offer waterfront views and can accommodate up to 24 in a class- room setting. “We also have three water-
