When it comes to adding effective ele- ments in making a successful event, depending on the planner's vision, Wildemann notes that LED uplighting can be used to create a simple, elegant and cost effective look. In addition, he says, LED video used as a stage backdrop or for decor can be dramatic. Effectively placed gobos, patterns and color throughout a room can create a real "wow! factor,” as well.


"Wide screen video or pixel mapping, as well as strategically placed flat screen dis- plays can be effective as decor and for conveying your message,” Wildemann


continues. "Also, don't forget sound... a properly designed sound system that can deliver good intelligible sound through- out the room as well as appropriate level music and background effects can make the experience much more pleasant. The audience should never strain to see or hear your message, nor should it offend or annoy. A creative technology design will ensure your vision is properly communi- cated.”


To truly make an impact, Cataldi recom- mends creating a sensory experience that will connect with attendees long after the event is over. "Send out a meeting sound- track beforehand that attendees will rec- ognize during an event. Also, use the same color themes from the invitation and pro- motional materials at the event when the attendees enter the meeting space.”


Peluzzo illustrates making an impact in this way, "Have you ever been to a movie, concert or Broadway show that made you


feel like you were living that performance in that moment? It's not just the acting that makes you feel that way; the mood is set before the actors even step onto the stage. It is the combination of the sur- round sound, the lighting and the look of the set or stage that sets the pace for the entire performance.”


"This is true for special events as well,” she continues. "The way your event sounds and looks is going to set the mood for the entire evening. Just adding some simple uplighting can make a room feel warmer or cooler, larger or smaller depending on what colors you use. It's just like painting a room in your home a new color, only you are coloring the walls with light instead of paint. A ballroom is a ballroom, but with the right audio and lighting you can make your guests feel like they are almost anywhere.”
