Introduction to South African Law; Com- parative Constitutional Law; Comparative Alternative Dispute Resolution


This ABA-accredited summer program in beau- tiful Cape Town, South Africa consists of three 2-credit comparative courses in constitutional law, criminal justice and dispute resolution. The faculty includes Missouri and South Afri- can professors. Field trips to the Cape of Good Hope, the Stellenbosch wine region, Robbin Island (prison home of Nelson Mandela) and other scenic and historic locales are included in the itinerary.


The program includes visits to political institutions such as the Parliament and courts. Two whole-day tours will include some of the breath taking scenery around the Cape Peninsula. Limited non credit internships with law firms, ngo’s and governmental institutions are available. Students will be housed in semi- luxury apartment units at or near the ocean and close to the city center.


Study law amidst the historic legal, political and social changes occurring in South Africa in this 4 week program. With a comparative and international law focus, U.S. and South African professors draw upon their experiences in their respective systems to highlight the similarities and differences in the administration of justice. Classes include South African students and academic excursions.
