Cammegh illuminated the Las Vegas G2E show with its stunning Aurora wheel
MGM took the first wheel, with the Venetian installing Mercury 360 wheels and Billboard displays in quick succession. The news that Cammegh, the small, but perfectly formed, UK company has entered the Las Vegas Strip market is an achievement that should be lauded by the industry. It was a brave investment for the company and one that has come back to bite much larger companies than Cammegh in the past. The company's success, therefore, in taking a massive leap to gain Nevada approvals, and then to build marketshare as it has done around the world; by combining exquisite craftsmanship and innovation, with hands-on service and support direct from the manufacturer, is a remarkable achievement at this time of hard economic realities.
Cammegh's success has been to build upon its highly crafted roulette wheels by adding innovations and technology, which feeds directly off the wheel itself. Cammegh's Billboard displays, in-rim sensors, Eyeball camera, PitBoss and automatic wheels have been the building blocks for recent unique developments. "For over two hundred years, the game of roulette has generated only one number," stated Andrew Cammegh at the G2E exhibition. "PowerPlay, which can be added to any Mercury 360 wheel, can generate up to five random events, which paves the way for a wide range of exciting side-bets and jackpots."

By recording the ball and rotor speed at launch and timing the length of the game, PowerPlay's random events generate opportunities for side bets that can be configured to give away mystery prizes. When linked to the Aurora wheel, the randomly changing colours of the wheel can also be linked to extremely large prizes, with the wheel flashing between different colour combinations before landing on the player's chip. "Aurora using PowerPlay has been developed as a means for operators to giveaway major prizes with a single spin," described Mr. Cammegh. "Linked to the billboard display, a slot feature on the display shows players their optional side bets, with the Random Event Generator (REG as opposed to RNG, as these are events that are generated as opposed to numbers), delivering additional excitement from the one spin. As the ball is spun, the slot reels also begin to spin generating a random event that corresponds to the side bets on the felt."
Under development, Cammegh is also creating PowerPlay Poker, whereby the display will show a hand of poker being dealt, whose outcome again is determined
by REG. In addition to events created by the Mercury 360 wheel, Cammegh is also using its Billboard display and Eyeball camera to create events on wheels without in-rim sensors thanks to a PowerPlay upgrade. "Using the Eyeball, the wheel creates a random number after no more bets, but before the ball lands in the pocket," explained Mr. Cammegh. "These additional bets offer a house edge of 10.5 per cent, as opposed to roulette's traditional 2.5 per cent. Where your odds are 35:1 on the regular game, our Double Shot side bet combines the two numbers created by PowerPlay to create a new number between 1 and 72. Further combinations increase the odds, with a possible 1,369:1 outcome."
It's these exciting additions to the traditional product that have really struck a cord with operators. In Las Vegas, where roulette remains a minority game, the addition of side bets and massive prizes creates a completely fresh offer to players and operators. While Cammegh's wheels remains the epitome of time- honoured craftsmanship and engineering excellence, under the hood, these are some seriously pimped up rides!
