Matsui Gaming provides the perfect table mix for South American gaming operators
Matsui Gaming was yet another international company exhibiting at the G2E show in Vegas with its focus firmly on the South American, not the North American market. “The growth of casino gaming in Argentina and Chile has benefited our chip sales, while operators in Central America have focused primarily on our ranges of playing cards and layouts,” explained Matsui's Roxanna Orellana at the show in Vegas. “Price and quality go hand in hand with our success in these markets. When we are shown chips that operators have bought from suppliers that they can snap in half with their fingers, they understand that they have to invest in quality if they are to also ensure security.”
Chip sales from Matsui in South America have focused on what Ms. Orellana describes as ‘simple, regular security.’ A handful of operators have invested in more advanced security measures, such as Matsui's MGI technology, but for the majority the regular chip range from
Aristocrat enters Vegas pub market
Aristocrat has broken into the Las Vegas pub market for the first time, replacing an existing system at Sago’s Baja Tavern and Lounge in Las Vegas with its Oasis 360 system, which will monitor all of the venue’s machines. Sago’s Baja Tavern and Lounge owner Jason Godfrey said he is confident he has found the perfect solution partner in Oasis and in Aristocrat. “We promise to take care of our players like old Vegas used to, and we wanted to be absolutely certain we had a system that would help us fulfill on that promise. After looking at several systems from several companies, it’s clear that system is Aristocrat’s Oasis 360,” he said. Aristocrat Vice President for Systems Sales & Marketing Kelly Shaw said the company was thrilled to have found another new partner in Sago’s Baja Tavern and Lounge. “This has been an incredible year for Aristocrat’s Oasis 360 system, as we have continued our absolute dominance in North America. We are very happy to have broken into this new marketplace, and I’m confident this is going to be a great partnership,” she said.

GLI Europe is now accredited by the Spanish Gaming Authorities to test and certify iGaming platforms for Spain. Both certifications are required by the Spanish Gaming Authorities before iGaming operators can provide their services.

“There are operators
interested in RFID
technology, but as yet it has yet to be introduced in any
great numbers into the marketplace. We know of a
casino in Argentina that has installed
RFID, but they don't use it.”
Price sensitivity is a key factor in the South American market right now and Matsui appears to have struck the right balance between quality and cost to satisfy the needs of operators at this time. “Investment is top of the list right now,” stated Ms. Orellana "That's not to say that casinos won't look into RFID in the future, but for now the key decisions are taken on price.”
Quixant incorporates new AMD Fusion in 206 board
Having developed and homologated its 106 board for the Italian Comma 6a market, Quixant showed its complete range at the ENADA Rome show with customers on neighbouring stands proudly displaying games running on the 106. “The launch of the 106 followed two years' development of the protocol for this market,” explained Quixant's Gary Mullins. “However, the protocol makes a massive difference as we're giving for free what the OEM would need to create or develop for themselves, which would cost them roughly the same price as the board. Due to that, the response has been terrific, with another six customers currently in approvals.”
The next stage of development
for Quixant's 106 is the addition of AMD Fusion chipset technology in the first half of 2012. The launch of the new 206 is timed to coincide with what will hopefully be the launch of new Comma 6a+ legislation, creating a more power-hungry machine requiring a more powerful board and processor.
“We are hoping to launch one of the first boards compliant with the Comma 6a+ regulations incorporating Fusion power sometime mid- 2012,” confirmed Mr. Mullins. The new Comma 6a+ machines are expected to incorporate note acceptors and double stake and prize from €1 to €100 respectively, to €2 to €200, putting the Comma 6a+ on a much closer footing to VLTs.
Matsui delivers quality and security above and beyond the call of duty in the market right now. “There are operators interested in RFID technology,” explains Ms. Orellana, “but as yet it has yet to be introduced in any great numbers into the marketplace. We know of a casino in Argentina that has installed RFID, but they don't use it.”
“We are thrilled to have obtained this accreditation,” said GLI Europe Managing Director Phillip Barow. “GLI will continue to be the world’s leading test laboratory for Internet games and platforms, because there are three distinguishing factors that set GLI apart from all other labs: our bandwidth, technical expertise, and ability to save clients time to market and money through our testing results transfer system. We will use these advantages to take products previously approved for Italy, France, the AGCC and other highly regulated markets and quickly and inexpensively certify those same products for Spain.”
GLI brings its expertise in testing all aspects of software and systems to the Spanish market. From the testing and certification of platforms, games, poker networks and sports books to the information security audits, GLI is ready and now accredited to supply services to Spain. Particularly noteworthy is the concept of the Spanish Internal Control System, featuring the “Safe Storage Database.” For the first time in an iGaming market, this feature will need to be certified by a laboratory. GLI is already in the process of testing some independently developed storage solutions. GLI Director of iGaming Development Filippo Ferri said, “We are seeing a tremendous amount of interest in the Spanish market, both from established international operators seeking to cement their presence in the market and from local Spanish realities looking to take their bricks-and-mortar operations online.”
